Hi

Does anybody have any information on the old shop at the entrance to the train station in terms of future plans for development?

I have heard the same developer who bought this owns a site behind Smyths pub which is left in a similar run down state.

It really makes no sense in a town so lacking in facilities that these prime sites can be left undeveloped for years. It would be ideal for a badly needed coffee shop/additional newsagent etc.

Thanks

There is a simple solution that is so common in other countries. The council just needs to start increasing rates on prime derelict sites until it doesn't make sense for the owner to leave them idle.

Fungal Coco haD previously planning permission for apartments. Can’t remember if a retail unit was there too. You can check online. Might be a different developer with different plans now tho.

Just had a look at the Final planning applications website.

There don't appear to be any current planning applications for the site.

Plenty of historical ones, but they all appear to have been turned down or withdrawn.
