It could be a few more days before we see a final result.

Next time around we should arrange a debate between all the Donabate candidates. Would be a bit a of craic and good way to increase voter interest and hence turnout for our area.

On the fourth count now. 3 of the stragglers have been eliminated. They had very low tallies so no major gains to be made for the other candidates as yet.

Starting to get interesting now.

Newman, Copps and Sinnot looking the strongest.

Very bad day for Donabate.
Labour must be kicking themselves. Running 3 candidates. Even FF running 3 was a friggin push.

When you see political parties doing that sort of madness you realise how out of touch they are.

There's nine seats so it's not over yet. I think Dowling will benefit from the elimination of Sexton and McGuire. At least he did in the last count which seemed to push him into the running.

It will be very close. We could end up with two representatives, one or none.

No-one else is transferring to him. Compared to 2009 a terrible performance - especially all the work he has been putting in.

If was Independent he would be home by now.

At the moment, but it depends on how the transfers pan out. It will be very tight.

Dowling got 194 from Sexton's elimination so that puts him back in the mix. McGuire next to be eliminated. Dowling should pick up a few more there. It's still going to be very tight.

Bob isn't going to make it.

Mulville, Milk man and Henchman have the best chance.

FG / Labour getting f all transfers. This is incredible.

Yep, only got 62 from McGuire so he's very much an outsider now.

Predict he will be eliminated at 14th count.

If two of Milkman / Mulville / Henchman didn't run he would have made it no problem.

Am I missing something/ the page i'm watching shows there are 9 seats up for grabs, two have already been elected and there are only seven others left in, so don't they all get a seat?

Don't think so. They're on the 12th count now and there are still a few with less votes than Dowling.

14 still left after the 12th count that are chasing the remaining 7 seats.

The Indo is easier to read than the Fingal site, but isn't updated as quickly:

Crazy stuff. None of the transfers make any real sense. Labour transferring to FF and so on. It looks like people are transferring on the basis of geography rather than policy which makes the whole thing something of a lottery. Henchy did better than his FF rival in the last count so must be favourite for the FF seat. He ran an expensive campaign bombarding voters with impressive looking, glossy leaflets towards the end of the campaign and it looks like paying off. Labour will kick themselves if they don't get a seat. They easily had enough votes to do so.

Biggest shock for me is the performance of Ann Devitt. I really expected her to be decimated early on. I was going to say that I'm surprised at the size of the pro-corruption vote but, when you think about it, Ray Burke used to get elected in these parts.......

You underestimate the stupidity of people. She is independent and no association with anything of her former roles remains in the minds of most

Standings after Count 13. Leaving out the two that have seats, this is the race for the last 7. It's very tight and Dowling is still the right side of the line:

NEWMAN, JOE Non-Party 1246
SINNOTT, JUSTIN Non-Party 1063
COPPINGER, EUGENE 1039
SMITH, DUNCAN The Labour Party 1037
DEVITT, ANNE Non-Party 995
HENCHY, ADRIAN Fianna Fail 968
DOWLING, BOB Fine Gael 957
MULVILLE, PAUL Non-Party 948
COLLINS, MICHAEL Non-Party 920
MC COOL, DECLAN 704

Ken.

Yeah but Collins / Mulville / McCool will transfer to each other. Can't see any of them transferring to FG. People vote independent because they think all these taxes are unnecessarily being put on them by FG / Labour.

Can't believe Devitt is still in there. She was found by a tribunal to be corrupt. Representing developers and zoning land for them at the same time. Incredible.

Ok so McCool out next and he will transfer to the other two independents and the other swords candidate next.
Unfortunately, I still think Bob will be out at round 14. Henchman could be behind hennessy.
