Grinds for higher level maths and Irish are needed over the summer. If you can help, please let me know.

I can't and indeed I'm sorry for butting in, but if the report just arrived today maybe the first course of action is to take a breath and realise that most students bounce back nicely in sixth year.

However, if you really want to do something, might I suggest the really important thing for Irish that you should have been planning anyway given the 40% oral component: a trip to the Gaeltacht.

Maybe the rest over the summer would e of more benefit? Chance they could burn out come the main event. Bit like premiership players in a World Cup year.

Thanks for your replies, however, if you saw the results, you'd understand.
We are actually in a position where catch up is required if he's got any hope of achieving anything near his potential in next year's exams.

Our scholar tells us he did better than all of his friends. I know that many of you are teachers and parents; what is a reasonable result on a 5th year higher level summer maths test?

I suppose every one has their own ideas...for me, anything in the C range ie 55% and up is good for a 5th year summer exam, it shows that work certainly needs to be done, but the child obviously has a decent grasp of the subject...just my pennies worth !
