No discrimination

Some shops are saying "we will not discriminate and you will be even allowed into if the government expand legislation and don't let unvaccinated people into our shop due to public health risks, you also don't need to wear a mask"..

Firstly, this is illegal. Secondly, this is going against public health advice. Thirdly, what happens if someone walks into the shop, no vaccine and no mask coughs all over the place and spreads the virus. No discrimination for them also. Just let them at it and keep coughing?

Well, the good news is the vaccines work and there is an extremely high uptake in Ireland compared to other countries.

I'm not sure what the panic is about masks once all adults are vaxxed.

Although, I'll be quite happy to keep them on the train as I hate being coughed on in the winter.

Speaking of trains - has anyone heard any update on the new trains they ordered about 2 years ago? 40 new carriages or something?

They were at then scheduled for delivery mid 2021, but I'd guess and say production was slowed?

Saolta also reported that most of the cases in hospital with Covid where in fact admitted for other reasons and just happened to test positive for Covid, so the vaccines are working in keeping serious illness away.

On the trains front, I'm wondering whether there'll be the demand like before. I will only now have to go into the office one day a week (woo hoo!) and I know many others like me that are lucky enough to be able work remotely.

The thoughts of some idiot with a mask falling off their nose sneezing isn't appealing to you Vlad?

I'd rather get a root canal that get on that train in winter Mr Stupid.

I'd say half of Donabate probably caught Covid on that train last winter and we probably have herd immunity without knowing it. I certainly had a stinker of a flu last year.

What really annoys me is the lack of aircon in winter - big coat on, all windows closed.

Not totally uncommon to see people pass out.

Really???
The vaccines work?
In doing what exactly?

They don't stop you catching covid, they don't stop you getting ill with covid, they don't stop you getting extremely sick or dying either....
We've been sold a pup by someone.... though I have been told by sr medical consultant that these will work once clinical trials are completed

The vaccine is having an impact.

We're hitting 1,500 cases on some days and yet the numbers in hospital and numbers of deaths are far lower when we hit those numbers before vaccination. Studies have also shown that those vaccinated have a lower viral load and therefore don't spread the virus as easily.

You also have to consider that we've opened up society far more than previous times during the pandemic and numbers are staying relatively low. Rember last January when practically nobody was vaccinated and we hit over 8,000 in one day?

Zero deaths in Ireland for those fully vaccinated, under 50 years of age between April & September of this year.

Just before he got vaccinated, my 37 yr old mate caught it & was hospitalised for 2 weeks. Had there been no room at the inn, he'd likely have died at home.

I am so glad that we have medical experts like this here to clear up all the doubts about the vaccine!

I must immediately go and get a blood transfusion so as to take away that nasty COVID vaccine that those tricksters in Leinster House convinced me to get
