Hi Everyone,

We've been lucky enough to be offered a junior infants place in both Scoil Cailini and Educate Together for our daughter next September and wondering what people's experiences have been with both? Any advice/differences on academics, sports, discipline etc?

Also, does anyone know what the plan of action is for the Gaelscoil?

Thanks all and best of health.

I’ve got one at each for reasons I won’t go into.

Both very good schools, with very good principals.

You could nearly choose on the basis of which is closer or whether you prefer your child in a uniform.

I've had kids in both. Again, both very good schools but I'd say my two lads had happier experiences in Educate Together than my daughter who went to St Patrick's. That could be down to the individual child.

My kids are much happier in educate together! Theyre more calm and relaxed after coming back home. No more struggle with uniforms.
Maybe ask yourself where you stand with religion being thought on a daily basis and what to answer to more specific questions based on that..

Schools follow same curriculum.
Dpets offers lots of activities even for juniors, (in non covid times) to be checked on their website.

Good luck with best choice!

Hi,

Re: Gaelscoil na Mara.

For this years junior infants in take the school is currently based upstairs in the Community Centre, and will move to a new temporary site in Feb21 beside the Community School (the site where the Educate Together was originally set up a few yrs ago to my knowledge).

The permanent school has been granted planning, and will be based of the new distributor road, unsure of the exact location but will be more towards the Corballis end I believe.

Currently only one class (Naíonáin Bheaga), but enrolment for Sept21 is now open.

It's a non denominational school, and has a uniform.
