ILLUSTRATED TALK BY Cormac Lowth
Cormac will give a talk on one of the greatest underwater archaeological discoveries and recoveries of all time. He will be giving a fascinating account of the history of the excavation and conservation of two gigantic Roman ships from the time of the emperor Caligula, from the bottom of a small lake in the Alban Hills near Rome. The excavations took six years to complete.
It is a story of great endeavour and ultimately of great tragedy. Cormac will be showing a great many rare and interesting illustrations during the lecture.
