This is 100% boxes open AFAIK. Adrian Henchy looks like he'll take a seat. Paul Mulville is in with a shout. Not sure Bob Dowling will make it.

Can't believe people have voted the same person back in again. Very disappointed. How are things ever going to change/improve if we don't change who represents us?

The same candidate gets voted back in because they have delivered a huge amount to the community in the last 5 years. That is fact, not opinion. So many people have received that help first hand so that is why they vote the same candidate back in. Simply blaming the local councillor for all the planning development & traffic issues (and there are many) on the peninsula just shows a lack of understanding of how councils work.

The councillor got voted back in because he put 5 years of hard work into the community and has engaged with residents on local issues . He’s the only one to get things done around here . Great vote from the locals who know he will put in another solid 5 year shift .

No sign of the first count yet. How long does it take to count a few bits of paper?

Well done to those elected and commiserations to Corina and Bob.

Corina Johnston seems a little unlucky to miss out, especially when you consider how the vote broke down:

Labour: 25.7%
Fianna Fail: 24.8%
Fine Gael: 13.3%
Social Democrats: 8.2%:
Greens: 4.8%
Sinn Fein: 4.2%
Independents: 19.1%

And yet it's the second placed FF who take two seats while Corina misses out. Unfortunate.

Ok so FG poll at 24% or thereabouts but only 13.3% out here. Why? Because Alan Farrell has acted as if he has no interest in the area - doesn't even turn up for local meetings. It's a joke because there are a lot of ABC1's out here and FG has ignored the area as it plans to dump it all with a disproportionate of social housing and cuckoo fund crap. If Farrell did half of what O'Brien does he would have got Dowling (and or Monks) another few hundred votes and elected. Instead, we have An Bord Pleanala screwing over the area under so called directive of national government policies when we all know if Leo or anyone with any serious FG influence would never let some of the crap that happens out here happen and then ensure their local rep was getting some credit and good press to get them over the line.

I predict Farrell will lose his seat next election.

Don’t forget Alan’s compensation claim in 2015 that the judge looked poorly upon.

An absolute bluffer, as Roy Keane would say.

Feel sorry for Bob Dowling, great local activist, perhaps in current climate of our peninsula being shit on , he should have gone independent

Not much difference between FF and FG, and FF did no harm to Henchy; because O'Brien and Clifford Lee act like they give a sh*t about area. Alan Farrell may as well be an MP for some English borough with his level of disinterest.

does anyone know if local election candidates have to record/publish their election donations and if so where this information might be available?
