Hi there,

I would like to know which Internet provider is the best for Donabate area.
I am looking for something consistent @ 100Mb at least and may extend the service with TV according to bundle available.
Thanks in advance,

I think the only option for 100mb+ is Virgin and they're not available in all estates.

I have Eir Fibre and get 50mb consistently with no issues. I believe the speeds with Eir will get much better when we get fibre to the house. Although I'm not sure when that will be.

Besides the 4G offerings, all the others, like Sky, just sell on the Eir product.

Thanks Ken, I've checked and Virgin doesn't provide a service at The Gallery.
It seems that Magnet is available but I am not sure if it's a good choice.

Hi all. I used to live n The Gallery and Magnet were the only ISP allowed to provide a cable/phone service there. Even then it is not via a physical connection due to access rights, unless that has changed in recent years, but I have seen no works to facilitate a cable run.
Any other provider would be via Mobile Broadband and the signal is not that good.
I was more than happy with the broadband speeds provided by Magnet.

I have also worked in Broadband support at a high level and am currently using Eir as their service has greatly surpassed Vodafone in supply and Customer Service.

From last I heard, there are no plans to increase any cable services to the Donabate/Portrane peninsula until demand (housing and businesses) make it cost effective.

It still baffles me as to why people want more than 40 Mb/s connections when I work in IT and manage with just that.
I am always up/downloading circa 500 GB per month, have remote access and I have no lag, even whilst streaming music or videos.

Any doubts on Broadband speeds, sign out of all browsers and applications that use an internet connection (Outlook/Skype/OneDrive/GDrive/Itunes) open a single browser and access the following.http://speedtest.upc.ie/
Feel free to PM me should you need any Broadband support, I've over 10 years experience and knowledge just sitting there

I have magnet and like previous poster said i've never had an issue with upload/download speeds. I dont work from home regularly but when i do i'm pushing & pulling stuff from servers all based in US. I think you'd be fine unless you have a server farm in your spare room ;-)
