Given the amount of development on the peninsula at the moment, I thought I'd write up a guide on what you can do if you have issues.
Firstly, it's a good idea to keep an eye on planning in your area. You can do this with the map on the Fingal web site as well as keeping an eye out for site notices.
http://www.fingalcoco.ie/planning-and-b ... plication/
The first stage is to submit an observation to the proposed plan. This can be done online by outlining the issues you have with the proposed development. Details are attached. The cost of doing this is €20. If there are subsequent revisions to the plans and you have additional observations, you don't have to pay again.
If the planning eventually receives approval and you feel your observations haven’t been taken into account, you have the option to appeal the decision to An Bord Pleanala. Please note, that in order to appeal a decision, you must have previously submitted an observation. The current fee for appealing a planning decision to ABP is €220 and you have 4 weeks to submit your appeal from the date FCC granted permission.
Planning Applications
Fingal also has an alerts service (https://alerts.fingal.ie/en/) that's useful for planning. It's really intended as a quick alert service for burst watermains etc., but you can also choose to get a weekly update on planning applications local to you. It does new applications, decisions etc. I'm not convinced it catches all applications but it definitely lists most of them.
Hopefully this will remove the days of squinting at tiny notices stuck into ditches, and make the whole thing a bit more transparent.
