Donabate parkrun is an organised free weekly timed 5km run which takes place on the grounds of Newbridge House on Saturday mornings at 9.30am.
Our run is open to all. Anybody and everybody, of all ages and running abilities can take part in our runs – you can run, jog or walk the course.
To take part all you need to do is register before your first run here, http://www.parkrun.ie/register/form/. Don’t forget to bring a printed copy of your barcode with you in order to get a result. If you don’t have a barcode you won’t get a time.
The event is completely organised by volunteers, anyone wishing to join us to help out can see how it all works by emailing donabatehelpers@parkrun.com.
Course Description
The meeting place and start is in front of the steps of the house. After the briefing the course starts in a clockwise direction. Shortly past the house and before the car park turn to the right at the zebra crossing. Then follow the road around to the left and at the next zebra crossing turn to the right and follow the path past the football fields and around the farm. After 1.3k enter the woods and turn left signposted Donabate gate. Continue through the woods and after a further 0.6k turn right at the t-junction. Enjoy this downhill section and at the t-junction turn right towards the house and turn right again at the litter bin. Follow the pathway into the woods and take the path to the right. Then follow the path around to the right and then turn left (signposted) to go anti-clockwise back around the farm and pitches. Turn left at the zebra crossing and follow the road along the outside of the walled garden. Turn right past the white gate and left at the zebra crossing. The house will now be on your left. After the house take the left turn on the pathway back into the woods. Take the pathway to the left and then go left again at the coffee shop. The finish is shortly afterwards in the garden next to the house. The course is almost all flat.
