Why was the alleged assault on Donabate teacher censored

As a parent of two going to the local Secondary School I would think that I would be entitled to know if something serious as this alleged assault has taken place. Or is censorship the order of the day?

It was locked because it's not something that will be resolved through discussion on this site. I would urge anyone with concerns to contact the school directly.

We have no proof that this alleged assault took place so would rather not have it discussed on the forum.

I for one can recall many times in the past where people who posted on this site were allowed to rant about anything they liked. Whether it was of benefit to the community or to the poster many times skirting the truth. It is not wise for the freedom of speech and the freedom of this forum if something as serious as an assault on a teacher is censored. What is going on in the School? Is this alleged assault common practise? This not something we should hide from.

I was told by a member of DCC staff that a teacher in the autistic unit was hit twice by the same student who has a history of aggressive Behaviour and who has hit staff and students last year and this year. That poor teacher is out on leave now - apparently forced upon her. The rumour in the school is that the ETB got rid of the teacher because the teacher expressed a concern for the safety of the other students to their parents.

By the way I sent a private message to Ken asking him why the post was censored. I also queried whether he was personally connected to the parents of the student who assaulted the teacher or to the management of the school. I never got a reply!!

Josie, rumours such as that are probably the reasons why threads like that need to be closed. I'm no fan if censorship but the person who set up this site did so in a private capacity and as such will have to deal with any fall out/potential legal action themselves. So I understand the need to lock that thread. If you read the journal you will notice that they disable comments on many articles.

Anyone who isn't happy should really go ahead and set up a forum themselves. We are under no obligation to post here

Ken was right to close down that Topic. That unit in the school is for children on the Autism spectrum and unless you are stupid you will know that certain children with this condition have a tendency to lash out and the staff if fully qualified would know this. They are entitled to go to this school as much as any other child in the community and I'm sure that if there is a problem with this individual child that it will be dealt with straight away.

If you have a problem with any post on this forum then feel free to report it by clicking the exclamation mark button beside said post. A moderator will then deal with it.

With regards to "It is not wise for freedom of speech...". This is a privately owned forum, paid for by the person who set it up. There is no ulterior motive to censor, support or show bias to any person, business or institution, and when you signed up to this forum you agreed to this :-

" You agree that “DonabatePortrane.net” have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should we see fit"

Josie asked a question ,which she appears to now know the answer to, about an alleged incident. As Ken said yesterday, contacting the school about this would be best if you have any concerns.

No need for that attitude, present these points/issues to the school or education authority.

Posting that here will not get you the answers you need from the right people.

Thread locked, please don't start another on the subject.
