CANT KEEP UP WITH THE HIGH COST ANY LONGER ,ANY ONE OUT THERE CHANGED THEIR SUPPLIER AND NOTICE BILLS BEING MORE REASONABLE ???????

We switched to Airtricity and then switched again after the savings were up. It's worth doing every time your contract runs out. It's easy to do and we've had no hassle at all. It may be only a few quid, but it's in my pocket instead of theirs.

I switched to Electric Ireland from Airtricity earlier in the year for the reason above - my discounts with Airtricity expired.

I have noticed a sharp increase in our electricity bills over the last year. Even during the summer it's hitting close to €500 for two months. I wouldn't say my consumption has increased much either.

Gas is astronomical. During the winter months we're close to €700 for two months. There doesn't appear to be any heating cheaper option that doesn't require a significant outlay that will take years to claw back.

our electricity bills for the summer averaged €100 for 2 months and our gas was approximately €120 for 2 months. Winter gas is about 280 to 300 at its highest December/January.

this is for a 4 bed, with kids etc.

I need to look into it. I think a couple of bills were estimated that were lower than they should have been so it's likely that the €500 bill is compensating for this and will level off.

I'm running three fish tanks that have filters running 24x7 and a pond so that will increase it a bit, but I wouldn't have thought to that extent. A large filter is typically around 40-50w in terms of electricity usage. The tanks have heaters but they are on thermostats and used very little during the summer months. They tanks and pond been there for several years at this stage so are nothing new.

I have one of those electricity measuring gadgets that I need to put on the fish tanks and TVs and see how much they're consuming. It can't be the house lights as I converted all of them to LED over the past couple of years. Return on investment on this is questionable BTW.

With Sky boxes, gadgets and PCs, there's a lot of stuff charging or on standby that uses power that I also need to take a look at.
