Hi, can anybody recommend a place to get shutters? We have noticed that many people on the estate have them and they are lovely, would love to know where they get them!

Hi All,

In a couple of weeks now and absolutely in love with the place! Joined the fb group too thank you for setting it up Niamh!

Has anyone in the Court had a problem with insulation beads everywhere? They're all over our back garden and in the drains. We keep clearing then but they reappearing!

Yeah every time we open the front door they come flying in.

They did the blow in insluation early this week and about 10 days ago as well on the side opposite our houses, they don’t seem to be disappearing for the moment.

Hi all,

Just wondering what kind of monthly delays people moving in to the court have experienced? We are due in to the crescent in September/October but I know that is highly unlikely so just want to try gauge what to expect? I feel like we’re probably looking at early next year.

Joe

Hi Joe,

We got our keys today. We were originally told Oct/November. That's around a 7 month delay... I do think your houses seem to be moving a bit faster than ours did, so hopefully you guys won't be waiting as long as we had to.
Best of luck with it, it's worth it when the time arrives!

Jeez sorry you had to wait that long. I knew there was a good delay due to the foundations but I didn’t think it was that bad. I’m hopeful to get in just before Christmas, we have our second due in September too so it could be mayhem if they both arrive on time 🤣

Anyone have any recommendations for someone who does blinds? Looking at both Shutter and Roman type blinds.

I ordered Venetian blinds from East Coast Blinds last week. I was pleasantly surprised by the price. They’re due to be installed in a few days so I haven’t seen the final result but I believe lots of people have used them in Beresford.

Hi All-for anyobe who has moved in on the court-can anyone send me a ballpark figure on what they were quoted for flooring....we are being quoted 4.5k for wooden floors on ground floor and carpet upstairs by a friend and I'm thinking it may be a bit on the steep side.Obviously different carpets are different prices so just speaking generally-is that about right?TIA

We were told June, that was in early March.

I presume June for the Houses closest to road, the end houses bordering the golf course must be mid summer?

We are closer to the road than the golf course but to be honest I am thinking June might end up being July. I know the kitchen for my house was ordered on the 2nd April, it takes 6-8 weeks to come in and then will need to be fitted.

Hey, I got a couple of quotes and was told standard is between 4-5K depending on what carpet you choose etc.

We were quoted around €2500 for laminate wooden flooring downstairs and €2k for carpet upstairs. We have priced a few different places and there are differences in prices and what you're looking for. But we were looking for something decent that will do us for many years so we didn't go for the cheapest either. I've learned quite a lot with flooring from the research!

Kevin in Top Class floors in Turvey business park, as well as John Gouldsbury both seem very decent so we're still debating who to choose....

Hi all,
We are purchasing on the crescent and had planned to sign contracts tomorrow. We were told Sept/Oct for completion but I have seen on here some people had over 6 months of a delay! Has anyone spoken to Hora around the projected overrun for the crescent? We are expecting a little delay as with all new builds but our mortgage offer will expire end of October and my partner is due to take up a new job in November (all great timing ha) so we are trying to weigh up the risks of signing the contracts if the mortgage could be affected by a long delay!

Thanks Nicole :-)

Hi Nicola ,

I was asking my friend about loan offers recently as he works in mortgages.
When you get a mortgage offer from the bank it lasts 6 months. However, with new builds you can ask for an extension because there are usually delays. To get an extension, you have to resubmit payslips , so if changing job I'd say apply for extension before changing job just so you have the extension sorted and peace of mind beforehand. Maybe check with your own back if it's the same but that's what I was told when asking about the expiry on the loan offer- but I'm not changing job so double check to be sure , I dont want to be giving you the wrong info! Hope this helps

I actually work in the bank we have the mortgage with and your right they can give the extension but I think it's only if it's a short delay. I think a 6 month one would require a full reapplication (I'm waiting to hear back to double check all this) I was just thinking of contacting Aidan to ask his opinion and thought I would check here aswell, it's such a great forum and has been really helpful for us and sure we would probably get a more realistic answer here as so many people have been through it ha thanks for the quick response! :-)

We live in the crescent. Our house was delayed by 2 months. Got the keys the day before our mortgage application expired. Most stressful time of our lives. The biggest problem was poor communication from Horas.

Oh no i can imagine it was! I spoke to the bank today and once we give them 2 or 3 weeks notice we should be able to extend the offer so fingers crossed we are all in before christmas at the latest! We signed the contracts today so very excited.

Myself and my partner are in the same position. We have also bought on the Crescent. We haven’t signed contract yet...I expect we will have to in the next week or so. We are trying to delay it as much as possible. We were worried about the mortgage approval running out of date before the houst is ready but a bank manager stated once our financial situation hadn’t changed we’d be fine! I hope this is true!
It’s a long process but I’m sure it will be worth it! Really love the estate and area.

Hey, we were in the same situation re Mortgage Approval, we were allowed an extension without any issues but we did have to provide 3 recent payslips each. If you are planning on changing jobs in November, why not reapply for a second mortgage approval before then? We did this and it was no problem - Not because we were changing jobs, we just knew that there would be a delay so we reapplied 2 months before our approval ran out and there were no issues.

Best of luck!

Green Bins not collected again this morning in the court.
I spoke with the driver at the entrance to the estate and he he said they will head back up now.
