I think it would be normal to avoid two (alleged) junkies in my estate in the middle of the night and then lock my door. I do NOT think it is normal to post a very accurate description of them on a website and then suggest they've committed every local break-in.
You may be right there. However I'd say very few people know who casey is referring to.
I wonder though is it illegal for someone to post a description of someone they saw acting suspiciously if they did indeed see them?

No I suppose not, stating a true fact would be fair enough. Maybe it's the "obvious junkies" description that makes it so offensive. I'd take the post down if I was CaseyE.

Speaking of junkies, here is a tune from the Old Skool Junkies

Are you for real? Someone checking out driveways at 2.30am is perfectly acceptable behaviour in your opinion?holdmycalls wrote:CaseyE you say these two "obvious junkies" are the local baddies because they happened to be walking in your estate at 2.50am one night?! Sure I'm jack the ripper then. I don't think that kind of small-minded "they're dodgy looking" mentality is going to catch you any real criminals.

You can pick up hi-def motion/night vision cameras which link via WIFI to your PC or an app on your phone for under EUR100.
This one is an example if you want to google it or ebay it.
Foscam FI8910W
(p.s. ignore the troll who posts that night time visitors to your neighbourhood driveways is not suspicious and worthy of reporting.)

I've fitted Foscam 8904s (the outdoor model) to my in laws holiday home about 2 years ago. They're good cameras but not HD, they wouldn't pick up a license plate unless it was very close.
I bought the 8910 when my kid was born to use it in his room, but returned it as it only supports weak wireless security (wep/wpa1) and one channel.
We use axis cameras in work and they're pretty good, I'm meeting with our security vendors next week to get recommendations.

Apparently it was driven straight there so hopefully no damage done.

Odd selection of cars. Any news on what they were up to with them?

In the hope of adding something to the discussion, I'll post my story in brief form
I occasionally will go for a run in Donabate at night, usually if I have to get the last train home and only really get a chance to run at about 12:30 - 1:30. I'll probably think twice about doing it again I read this thread, not because of criminals but I don't like the idea of disturbing people, but I would sometimes cut through somerton. I've probably done it 5-6 times since christmas and twice I've run into lads up to no good. Once I stopped on the wall on the beaverstown road side of cois inbhir to tie my lace and stretch, and two things happened. 1) a police car went by very slowly, studying me. I thought this was fair enough. car turned around and went back. 2) a young man came out of the house just before cois inbhir starts. I assumed he lived there, had seen me outside ( seems impossible in retrospect haha) and just was coming out to ask me what I was doing, so I just said 'hey I'm just getting a stretch in sorry to disturb you'. The man mumbled something and walked out of the driveway and down the beaverstown road really cautiously. I was in shorts and didn't have a phone so I turned back the way I came and ran back through Somerton, hoping to get home fast and call the police, since they were clearly looking for this character, or at least doing a sweep of donabate.
On my way back through Somerton, at the bushes at the entrance I saw 3 young lads huddled in the bushes (i assume the car has gone down the portrane road as they were really hiding as I approached and then came out without seeing me as I passed). Caught a pretty good look of their faces and my conclusion was they were not from donabate, They were about the same age at me, 20-early twenties, and I'm pretty confident I would have recognised at least one of them if they were Donabate residents.
I was also attacked by a fox, but thats another tale.
I got home anyway and rang Swords garda station and they hadn't a notion what I was on about, but they said they would send a car around for a look so at least that is something. I feel like the way that somerton is layed out attracts unwanted attention. There are dark fields all around it and a divide into Cois Inbhir that a car can't follow through ( and vice versa). Definitely worth keeping a close eye out. GL

Apparently they were the last in a big sting operation. Cops found about 500k worth of parts and mentioned they've been after them for ages.Vlad the Impaler wrote:Odd selection of cars. Any news on what they were up to with them?
