Same here - though it was the old donabate portrane.com forum. I had to read about some lunatics claiming they had to regularly protect their house against “youths” with a baseball bat. Had a real bad feeling moving here 15 years ago because of what some anonymous alarmist wrote on a forum...it’s daft.

Dona-day: Professionals going to and from work. People bring their kids to and from school. People on their way to sports. All looks good. Most of the scumbags in bed or out numbered.

Dona-night: Not many places to go. Teenagers at a lose end. More scumbags walking around.

Mala-white: More facilities and 250K for same type of house

Fake Mala-white: Over an hour's walk from village, closer to Swords-and-some-guns, houses 100K extra

Swords-and-some-guns: Way more shops, similar house prices but even more urban sprawl

Is it just me, or would anyone else like to see this post removed.

It gives a really bad impression of the village and is not balanced. It's the kind of thing I'd type halfway through my second bottle of red wine on a Friday night.

Commentary is important, but I don't think this is helpful. Secondly, posts like this probably knock about 5% off your house value for prospective buyers.

People do research you know!

I think it is important to discuss. I bought to live here a few months again and lots of good but some bad.

I have seen major issues with antisocial behaviour in the village and sometimes this trickles into the estates. We need to highlight the issue with the politicians who are calling to the door.

It is a real pity we don’t have a Garda station in the village.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my post. (Just incase this is removed). Looking forward to moving to Donabate, it seems no different to any other area and will hopefully be a nice place to live!

Yes, these are definitely issues worth discussing, but in a constructive way. Clearly the OP has had some bad experiences, but venting on a community forum like this doesn't really help matters.

We're reluctant to delete posts from the forum. I've been following the thread and overall it comes across as a balanced discussion that reflects positively on Donabate.

All I can add is that we bought a house in Donabate in 1999 as a couple and have since got married and raised a family.

Absolutely no regrets about doing this in Donabate and wouldn't change a thing if I had the opportunity to go back in time
From the local amenities (beach Newbridge house etc) to primary schools and sports clubs - all first class !
Oldest started in DCC and jury out on that at the moment from my point of view but daughter loves it.

The clue is in the name - its called Donabate and not Utopia - of course there have been isolated incidents over the years that haven't been pleasant and the odd person you wished lived somewhere else - but I think that applies anywhere you chose to live !! The vast majority of people I have encountered in Donabate have been great - but there are some people who I have had a negative experience with - but that just mirrors life in general - wherever you live/work/socialise etc.

The only thing I can't comment on is the train service as I don't use it as don't work in the city centre, But by way of context I have lots of family and friends who live along the DART line and have the same complaints at morning rush hour!

Living in Donabate has been a positive experience for me and most importantly my family

I've lived in the other Domhnach - Donnybrook - when I was a student and even there you had to put up with anti-social behaviour from time to time.

A lot more break-ins from travelling crime thugs for example.

I would just ask that people think twice about the big negative headline on these pages, even though it's understandable to get peeved off from time to time.

Definitely don’t remove the post. The original post is strongly worded and I don’t agree with all of it but it has some important points.

I moved to Donabate 5 years ago and absolutely love the place, it’s amazing.

However, people living here NEED to get involved with local planning and helping guide/manage the future of Donabate. I don’t trust the council in the slightest and they’ll do whatever suits them unless people get involved. Go to the meeting this evening and let your voice be heard. At least show a presence. That goes for all meetings about the future of Donabate. Talk to your councillors, email them, attent meetings and support those who give up their time and energy to look after the place for all of us.

Donabate is a town in its infancy and need strong push from the many that live here to ensure it develops well. Let Fingal and developers know at every step Of the way that we care and we will have a say.

Hey all not 30 40 50's like most on here.

Let me make this clear, Donabte has always had dealers difference is they maintained the dicrete nature.
It isnt gangland tho. The people causing trouble are your kids stop kidding yourselves saying oh these "Anti Social youths" arrive on the trains cause trouble and leave. NO IT IS YOUR KIDS.
