Hi folks
My contract is up with upc for broadband phone and Internet. We're considering moving to sky. Has anyone done this and regretted it? We use the Internet for watching American football a lot so need good quality Internet. Any advice appreciated.

Sky is great for TV and Sky + and recording/ viewing and multi tablet/pc/laptop viewing but its broadband is crap, 10mbit is the best you will get, ok for most things but they are seriously lagging behind everyone else.

they keep taking about rolling out a fibre thing, but dont seem to be too commited to doing it. even their website is very flaky about it. Assume they are waiting to piggyback someone else and are trying to build their customer base in the meantime.

Having had either Sky or Cable TV at different times and locations, I prefer Cable TV over satellite.
At least with Cable, signal is better, stronger and less susceptible to atmospheric conditions.

OK, with Sky, you get a free bird stand, I mean Satellite Dish.
Why not just advertise "I have SKY TV and maybe a big ass TV/ home entertainment system, come rob me".

Cable is discrete and in my opinion, better with faster internet connections. Phone can be over the cable so you don't need the phone line from Eircom.
