Was so sorry and indeed horrified to hear this sad news. Sincere condolences to Cathals family, friends and colleagues. A nicer man and G.P he could not have been. May he rest in peace.

Just wondering does anyone know if there is a book of condolences available? If not, would it not be a nice idea on behalf of the parish he served as a token to his heartbroken family?

Just read the condolences posted on RIP.IE It's a poignant illustration of both how popular Cathal was and how much he will be missed. I've no doubt the church will jammed tomorrow. And rightly so. :(

This makes me look at doctors in a new light. How much misery they must experience on a daily basis.
Cathal carried a huge weight for all of us but always with a smile and a gentle manner. One hell of man. Thank you. So sad.

He was a brilliant Doctor and always so polite. When the news of the Dublin marathon was on I remembered how much he loved running and the tips he was giving me for getting rid of shin splints. Does anybody know how long the book of condolences will be open in the pharmacy and what the pharmacy's opening hours are?

I'm not sure how long it will be there, but Brennan's Pharmacy is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Ken.

Is a very nice tribute to Dr. Martin - it is true, funny and sad all at the same time.
I still cannot stop the tears coming when I think about it.

Although I wouldn't be a fan of the author or the writing style, nice to see Dr. Martin remembered in a national paper.

Funny writing style but a good tribute nonetheless. We too looked at the lovely ensemble of flowers and I think the writer is doing some a disservice by inferring what they left as "garage flowers". They were anything but.

I agree, funny writing style, but nice to see a tribute to Dr. Martin, and regarding the wording " garage flowers" maybe im been picky but i dont think it was the proper way to describe the beautiful display of flowers, whether a person spent €20 or €2 , or whether they bought them in a florist or picked them from their garden, its irrelevant, they were placed there with thought and love for Cathal.
