Does that not mean it's a bit awkward for parents or kids who are going to schools that are not on peninsula?
A lot of kids seem to get the train into town - and quite a few seem to be bleary eyed shivering at the bus stop waiting for the 7.20 bus , I always feel so sorry for them on dark winter mornings.. I think being realistic one parent needs to be driving into town every morning for it to make sense as its a 6.30 am ish start to be standing at bus stop at 7.20 am
We've a first year in local school , settled in well and enjoying it , out the door at 8 .10 am , home by 4 pm , as a result all friends are local which has alot of benefits . Loreto for the girls seems to be the only school with good transport option

Thanks for info. Any reason why the kids would get the bus over the train?
I am guessing schools in town start at 9.00 so thinking would a train around 8.00 not be possible?

I'm just being curious here, but why would you send a child to school in town when there is a school within walking distance - am I missing something?

People have lots of reasons from avoiding bullies, falling out with a teacher to just weighing up their options that might be better for them. No point getting into it.
