Did you know Donabate has a CoderDojo ?
Every other Saturday we run a class where we teach kids (7-17) to write computer programs.

And how much is this amazing service I hear you ask ? FREE.
Yes that is right. Totally free. No charge, no fee, no hidden costs.

You can read more about what we do on our Web page

The next lesson is today (assuming you are reading this on Saturday 16th Nov).
The next one after that is 30th Nov.

We meet at 2 pm in the community centre.
We do ask that you get a ticket for each child coming along (so we know how many are coming)
This weeks tickets are available here : Free Tickets !
All you need to bring is your child, and a laptop (it is free so we can not give out laptops).

We are also looking for adults to help as mentors. You do not need to be an amazing programmer. Just willing to give up 2 hours every two weeks.
For more info you can get me on : admin@donabatedojo.com

Excellent stuff! Coding has been brought into Donabate CC for first years so this would undoubtedly benefit them greatly.
Experienced software engineers are in huge demand these days also.

We have been doing this in the community centre for about 5 years now.
Maybe we need a bigger advertising budget

If you know anyone who would like to learn then sign them up (any level from complete starter to advanced)

And if you would like to help then talk to me. You do not need to be a programmer to help (although we do need those too)

Hi Edd,

I've recently moved to Donabate with my fiancee and was hoping to get more involved in the community. I studied electronic and computer engineering (all be it a few years ago now) and work with development teams for enterprise.
I also do a lot of work with various sensors, scripting stuff and networking.
If I can get involved to help let me know?
If you have any questions just PM me.

@EndOfTerrace - pop along and meet us and see what we do. Next meeting is Sat 30th at 2pm top floor of the community centre.

If you (or anyone else) has kids we only ask two things. Get a ticket (they are free - we do tickets so we know how many people are coming), and bring a laptop.
Come along and join in.
