Hi there,
I was looking at the school league tables in The Irish Times and I could see that the proportion of students from Donabate Community College progressing to higher education has gone from 81% in 2016 to 59% in 2017!!!
I know that the quality of a school can’t be defined from only one dimension, but still... it seems like a drastic decrease in students going to college.
Can anyone with kids there offer any insight as to how they find the school now? My kids are still in primary.
Cheers
School league table
I'm amazed to hear this
My daughter left last year and as far as I can see, with the exception of some to Trinity & UCD, DCC emptied en masse into DCU!
Quite a number of that year were aiming extremely high and fell short by only a few points, so they're repeating in Institute or similar aiming for Physio & Law.

It's a good question. The percentage is down, but the numbers are up.
Last year there were only 79 who sat the leaving cert, and 64 went on.
This year there were 127, and 74 went on. For example, 21 are going to DCU this year vs. 10 last year.
Maybe larger class sizes are having an effect?
Both my kids attend the school, they love it and are doing quite well.

I have no hesitation in recommending the school. There are so many important aspects to secondary school that league tables will never measure. Our eldest is in second year, and she has had many opportunities to shine. She is flourishing. Our middle daughter starts next year. Our children’s hearts and minds are in safe hands. They are well set up for life in this school. Lucky to have it on our doorstep.
