I have heard of 2 incidents in the village last Saturday.

First was a young couple that were assaulted at the bus stop opposite the parish hall in the afternoon.
Second was a woman walking home from Keelings at around 1am on Sunday who was jumped by a gang and beaten.

So this is a regular thing now. Don't know if it was locals or outsiders.

The CCTV that used to be in the village on a trial basis would have most certainly helped in identifying those responsible but the do-gooders put a stop to that.

does anyone know who exactly put a stop to that and why it was never continued?

It is important that a large number of people get down to the community centre tomorrow (Tuesday February 14th) between 11am and 1pm to attend the first Garda Clinic.

If no one attends, the powers that be will say that there is no crime in Donabate and that no one is concerned.

If these assaults arent stopped shortly, we are going to be in for a very bad time of it come summertime in Donabate.

As it is it is not safe to walk through Donabate if the above mentioned assaults are true.

What is the Garda Clinic exactly? Is this a new thing? Has it been advertised? I, for one, was completely unaware of it.

First I heard of it too. Where was it advertised?

That's very disturbing news regarding those two events. I always felt the village was a safe enough place until now

More scare mongering? A source for this information would be nice. Word of mouth or first hand experience?

"A regular thing now " I must be very lucky lived here over 20 years and never seen any major anti social behavior.

Would a woman attacked and beaten by a gang not make national news?

Teens acting the blx in the village not only a Donabate problem.

I was waiting for that. First hand of sorts.....first of all look at the donabate village Facebook page. The woman who was assaulted described her attack. Secondly a woman who helped the couple who were assaulted describes that assault also.

Yes it's a regular occurrence. There was a gang fight in the village a few weeks ago.

Far from scaremongering. I'm making people aware so that they can pressurise the powers that be to get the finger out as well as to be vigilant for their own safety.

Just because you didn't see it yourself doesn't make it not true.

The woman who was assaulted posted it to the Donabate Village page. She is someone I recognise from.around the village and seems very credible to me.
It's shocking behaviour, regardless of where these young people live.

And physically assaulting someone is not acting the blx. Not in my world anyway. Something like that deserves a prison sentence in my opinion.

I would like to think it's not local people carrying out these attacks. That's why I said we need to attend that meeting tomorrow to ensure whoever is using donabate for their kicks just because we have no guards here, gets caught.

I have been living right in the village for the past 30 years and i go to Keelings and the shops regularly. I honestly have never seen one incident that made be afraid for my safety. I know there have been some incidents but in general its a safe area to live in. I cannot find anything on village facebook about the assault.

Here's the info about the Garda Clinic, it was on Adrian Henchy's Facebook page and his website, not sure if it was advertised elsewhere or not.

I saw a bunch of kids at the train station with a general air of menace about them. Some were getting on the train towards Drogheda. Some weren't. Around 14-16 years of age. Multi-cultural. Vive la differance. Several young jezebels hanging off them.

Think I've seen these kids before. If they're the ones I'm thinking of, they're mostly locals. Yeah they're loud and look a bit yobbish but are otherwise ok.

Fair enough. I'm at the age where any kid messing around on the streets after dark is a trouble maker.
