Does anybody know any more about this?

Has this got anything to do with the hight police presence at Sophia House on the Portrane Rd. opposite the Community Centre yesterday around lunch time?

That's odd, in the article they clearly say

"THE ARMY BOMB disposal unit have been called to remove bomb-making equipment from a housing estate in Donabate."

What housing estate is at the industrial estate at the end of Turvey?

Dont believe all you read in the Newspapers - good update provided by Adrian Henchy - pasted below

Just to update people on the story in the media today that the bomb disposal unit were called to an estate in Donabate today following the discovery of a suspect device. This is slightly misleading in that a suspect device was discovered this am at an Industrial estate off Turvey Avenue in Donabate which resulted in the Gardai been called who brought in the Bomb Disposal Unit to examine and remove the device. Following an inspection earlier today the suspect device was removed this afternoon. There is absolutely no link between the community of Donabate/ Portrane and any local housing estate in the discovery of this suspect device, it was found in a car by workers in an industrial estate at Turvey Ave and this car had originated in South Dublin.
micropoodle

isn't a certain vehicle recovery company based up there? I'd guess that it was a towed car that ended up there

this type of thing is a reminder to us all to not believe everything you read/hear in the media. I operate on the basis of not believing anything! :)

Second that Micropoodle and I appreciate Adrian Henchy's efforts to calm down the local community , but surely the people who removed the IED making components should know where they found it. Extract from the Defence Forces Website:

"The Defence Forces deployed the Army Bomb Disposal Team in response to a request from An Garda Síochána after the suspicious device was found in a residential area of Donabate."

Attached is the link to the Defence forces website :

It is of course possible that industrial area just became residential area, (just a minor slip of the tongue). Maybe someone with the correct facts can contact the Defence Forces and tell them where the bomb squad found these items.

Its probably how you define a residential area, there are a number of single housing units in the vicinity of the industrial eatate so it could be said to be a residential area. The original report posted said it was in a housing estate which was clearly wrong.
Any way the most important thing is that it was dealt with safely with no injuries occurring
