Re: Dog litter bin near park
I'm a dog owner and the only thing that annoys me more than owners not picking up their dog's crap is the others that bag it, then leave the bags lying around.

Re: The Links Pedestrian Crossing
I think this is some sort of council work relations issue.
The lights were put in without consulting the lollipop lady.
They should move the lights up to Glasslin. It’s treacherous crossing the road there with kids at school run time.

Re: Dog SH1T
Someone regularly bags their dog poo and leaves it on the pavement in the Fairways. What kind of bizarre logic is that? I saw a middle aged lady do it once and I called her out on it. She replied, 'Oh I'm just leaving it there for on my way back'. Grotesque, unbelievable, bizarre and unprecedented e...

I'd rather get a root canal that get on that train in winter Mr Stupid.
I'd say half of Donabate probably caught Covid on that train last winter and we probably have herd immunity without knowing it. I certainly had a stinker of a flu last year.

Re: No discrimination
Saolta also reported that most of the cases in hospital with Covid where in fact admitted for other reasons and just happened to test positive for Covid, so the vaccines are working in keeping serious illness away. On the trains front, I'm wondering whether there'll be the demand like before. I will...

Re: No discrimination
Well, the good news is the vaccines work and there is an extremely high uptake in Ireland compared to other countries.
I'm not sure what the panic is about masks once all adults are vaxxed.
Although, I'll be quite happy to keep them on the train as I hate being coughed on in the winter.

Re: Cycling the Hearse Road
Yes, the optimal solution is to put a bloody cycle lane in. There seems to be an aversion in this country to connecting the dots. - Wonderful cycle lane on distributor road that does not connect to M1 interchange or continue to Portrane. - Future Metro/Luas to stop short of Donabate/main rail line. ...

Re: Cycling the Hearse Road
It’s funny how threads like these become like Chinese whispers. The key point often gets lost. My original post was that GROUPS of cyclists, riding TWO ABREAST, might consider using Turvey as the situation last Sunday was quite dangerous for everyone concerned. I did not say cycling the Hearse Road ...

Re: Cycling the Hearse Road
In this case it was four cyclists. Two abreast and about 10 meters apart - which meant quite an overtake was necessary. They were going at about 20kms per hour for the length of the Hearse road on a busy Sunday with lots of oncoming traffic. It’s a pity people feel the need to be confrontational abo...

Re: Cycling the Hearse Road
In fairness Banacht, the legislation you provide a link to states that cyclists may not be MORE than two abreast. Two abreast is perfectly legal. This shouldn’t be an ‘us and them’ debate. It’s about sharing the road safely. It’s not safe to ride two abreast on the Hearse road from an overtaking per...

Cycling the Hearse Road
I completely understand why groups of cyclists feel safer two abreast. It forces motorists to take more care in overtaking them. However, this is not practical on the Hearse road where there is a solid centre line for a reason. Overtaking into the other lane is not safe. So the group of cyclists thi...

Yes, get a snap of them and send directly to Tony Holohan and maybe George Lee as well.

Re: Postivity....
I think it's worthwhile mentioning that the risk of getting Covid outdoors in a fleeting encounter is minuscule.
It's much more of a risk to your health stepping out onto the roads around Donabate than passing someone on the path.
Stay safe!

Bizarre set of incidents on the bridge
Weird set of occurrences outside Smyth's as I walked to dog to Newbridge this evening around 5.30pm. On the way there a small crash had occurred involving two cars that blocked the road and led to a big tailback. Then on the way back at the exact same spot, the 33D bus was parked on the wrong side o...

I think people are going to have to accept the Lockdown is burning out.
May as well open up a bit and manage and monitor socialising properly.

Yeah, I walk my dog quite a bit and there seems to be 4 main types of dog poo suspects. 1. People who literally don’t give a shit and just leave it where it lies. 2. Send the young kids out to walk the dog. 3. People who walk their dog off-leash and are blissfully unaware when Rover is taking a crap...

Re: Community College Remote Teaching
Yes, there certainly are positives. The teachers can just mute the messers and conscientious students can probably thrive. Good to hear the overall feedback is good. When I heard that a teacher was continually cancelling classes without warning or explanation I got worried, but perhaps that is the e...

Community College Remote Teaching
I just want to manage my expectations a bit. Does anyone know what level of remote teaching I should expect from the DPCC? My young one says that only half of lessons are going ahead on zoom, while one teacher continually has connection issues. Tough times for us all, I know, but if zoom teaching is...

Recycling collection - Extra bags
Walking the mutt this morning, I noticed some driveways with an extra bag of recycling waste beside their green bins?
Does Panda lift these no problem?
It’ll save some visits to the recycling centre if so.

It eventually came at 7.25pm
Two hours late and no apology. The young delivery guy just said they had taken too many orders.
The pizzas were good, but no better than Domino’s, so I’ll just order from them next time.

Text Message looking for Customs Payment
Just be aware folks that a very slick text message scam is doing the rounds looking for a small customs payment on a package you are expecting. I'm sure you've been doing a lot of online shopping so this might catch you out. I got it this morning and it made me look twice. I normally can spot a scam...

I’ve got one at each for reasons I won’t go into.
Both very good schools, with very good principals.
You could nearly choose on the basis of which is closer or whether you prefer your child in a uniform.
