Re: Elections

Which of the candidates for the council live locally? The more councillors we have from the peninsula, the more chance we have of getting services and infrastructure improved to meet the planned increase in our population. I know Glenn Brady (Independent) lives in Portrane. Two current sitting coun...

Re: Semple Woods new development

Yes it is phase one only. But the 40 houses being sold are from phase one so the figure of 40% is correct.

Re: Semple Woods new development

I don't know where you are getting your figures from. The estate agents marketing the estate have the number of houses at 134 (https://dmpc.ie/new-homes/semple-woods/) and the map on the official website for the development shows the same amount (https://glenveagh.ie/development/glenveagh-semple-woo...

Re: New Primary School Donabate 2020

Is 2020 not a bit optimistic so? I'd imagine the housing in that development will start and finish before a school? Probably optimistic. I think it's more lilkely that the Educate Together or Scoil Phadraig schools would be extended to cope with current demand, with a new school dedicated to Ballym...

Re: New Primary School Donabate 2020

And don't forget about the possibility of a Gaelscoil. We already have an educate together school here. The next one should have a different patronage such as an ETB as you suggest Aoifey or a Gaelscoil.

Re: Public Meeting - Planning Moratorium - Tuesday 26th

It was a very good meeting. There was a lot of anger about the lack of investment in infrastructure. In terms of the moratorium, of the councillors who attended, only Paul Mulville (SocDem) was in favour of it. Cathal Boland (Ind) and Adrian Henchy (FF) were against the moratorium. Darragh O'Brien, ...

Looking forward to attending this meeting tonight. Great to see the elected representatives and the public coming together to demand better development standards for the area.

Ken wrote: 18 Feb 2019, 20:23 I've no problem with people criticising local representatives when it's due. My point was purely in relation to this issue where the developer appealed the FCC decision to ABP.
It might have helped if local councillors had actually made a submission on the planning appeal to ABP...

Re: Mud on Roads from Developments

Has anyone else noticed the volume of mud on the roads caused by the developments taking place? Fingal County Council is not doing its job in enforcing planning conditions. The builders are getting away with murder out here. How long have you resided in Donabate? Donabate has been agricultural up t...

cmajorsolo wrote: 05 Feb 2019, 22:34 Does anyone have updates on this? How many of the new builds will be used for social housing?
Both blocks in their entirety were purchased by the housing association Oaklee and so all of the apartments will be leased by Oaklee to people on the social housing list.

Re: Housing - Ballymastone

Don't forget the people that bought The Gallery at the height of the boom for massively inflated prices, their prices were only starting to stabilize again, and what happens, this beautiful development gets hijacked by a housing association . What's the harm in that you might think, Well here's the...

Re: Widening of road at bridge

That Island is so dangerous, I don't know what they were thinking, I'm glad there hasn't been ice on the roads yet this winter as it's an accident waiting to happen I dont understand it either. It's supposedly there for traffic calming, but it slows traffic leaving the village rather than entering ...

Re: F18A/0673 - Beresford

I was surprised to see this as it doesn't seem to tally with what is happening on the ground in Donabate. The more expensive houses (4/5 beds) in Rahillion are selling very quickly whereas the cheaper and smaller houses in Glaslinn and, in particular Kingsland (which are on the market since January ...

Re: F18A/0618

The submissions of Councillors Henchy and Mulville were made very late at night, at the last minute just before the deadline, and in response to the submission made by Donabate Portrane Community Council. Astonishingly, Councillor Henchy submitted an observation supporting the developer despite what...

Re: F18A/0618

It is simply extraordinary that not a single one of our elected representatives made an objection to this application which, given what is contained in the objections which were made, appears to be a completely flawed and environmentally damaging development.

Re: New Local Area Plan 2014-2020

There are many reasons to buy in Donabate but property appreciation is not one of them. Prices here are pretty much at the highest point that they are going to achieve and with 4,000 to 6,000 new houses being constructed here over the next 5 to 10 years, doubling the population, prices are going to ...
