Re: Hearse Road Closure
My understanding of this 6 month closure is that the road is to be closed between 10pm and 6am. However the electronic signs leading up to the Hearse Road coming from Swords are now displaying road closed between 8pm and 6am. I understand they were allowed to put in temporary traffic lights on stret...

Re: Dunrovin Portrane Rd
i thought this development was for a handful of semi and detached houses. clearly i was wrong on that. i wonder why in this country, it isnt a requirement of planning that public transport, as well as infrastructure isnt a requirement to be in place before building is allowed. All these developments...

Dirt Bike/Scrambler driving through estates
last few days there has been a young lad driving through Somerton and ive seen him go into cois inbhir and back into Somerton on one of these bikes. given his age im assuming he is neither licenced, taxed nor insured, meaning he is illegally driving through these estates and onto a path to get betwe...

Re: Hearse Road Closure
if the entrance to the new estate is where it looks like they are putting it, ie: pretty much on the bridge, then i dont think ive ever seen a more ridiculous planning permission. that is going to be incredibly incredibly dangerous. But then again, ive come to expect this in donabate

Re: Local Election Results 2019
does anyone know if local election candidates have to record/publish their election donations and if so where this information might be available?
Re: Elections
All you blow-ins are all talk. The planners in Fingal said that the infrastructure in Donabate is well able to support the current building. At least one of the reps from the peninsula had the sense to stand up to the numpties and their mean-spirited moratorium. ah yes, name calling is always a goo...
Re: Elections
I wouldn't judge a candidate on their support for the moratorium. Given the housing crisis, it's difficult for larger parties to support it as the optics aren't good when viewed nationally. and therein lies the problem. working for the party and not for the people. i couldnt care less about the par...
Re: Elections
surprised how quiet this thread is considering the elections are only a week away. or maybe we're all fed up and/or just disillusioned. i'm now finally pretty much decided who I am going to vote for having given it probably far too much consideration. since ive decided to give my number 1 for this p...

Re: Increased Garda presence in Donabate recently?
Hi, Has anybody else noticed we've had a few Garda patrolling the streets recently? Great to see it. I know we really need our own station, but it's comforting to know they're there... i havent noticed any. same as i havent noticed any for the last 20 years or so. if you are seeing an increase, don...

Re: What does Donabate / Portrane need?
We need a solution to the the Hearse Road/M1/R132 junction. That's going to become a major bottleneck very quickly. the problem is that as far as i know, an improvement of the hearse road junction to the M1 isnt even on the councils radar. if this is true then it shows the complete contempt that FC...

Re: Semple Woods new development
I believe the developer has applied to ABP to be allowed to increase the number of 'units' in Semple Woods from 251 to 328. (Fewer houses, more apartments). https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=479047&d=1556622011 I won't be surprised when these are sold to a cuckoo fund....

Re: Gang of youths in the spires
Any idea what age they were? Attacking each other, or random passers by? Is this a problem in all Dublin, or just north county? A. no idea what happened yesterday but it's a regular occurence. from what i hear from others, it's gangs of kids taking the train to donabate to start fights and cause ge...

Re: Semple Woods new development
The laws of supply and demand will still apply to the rental market. More properties available could lead to lower rents. A large part of the problem today is a lcak of properties. Ken, these cuckoo fund companies arent buying up swathes of property so that their income will reduce in a years time....

Minister thinks Cuckoo Funds are good for the market
Interesting article today where it is reported that Minister Donohoe has defended the activities of 'cuckoo funds' buying up residential properties in blocks. https://www.independent.ie/business/personal-finance/property-mortgages/cuckoo-fund-buying-spree-easing-housing-crisis-claims-donohoe-3802749...

Re: This place is getting worse
Comment was directed at you - the general trend of this forum is scaremongering and doom and gloom, which is disappointing. Donabate is a great area but the impression been given from this forum suggests the opposite. Swords 30 years ago didn’t have all that. I know it’s not like with like but I su...

Re: This place is getting worse
Classic keyboard warrior ranting. Donabate and north county Dublin in general, is a great place to live, it always has been and always will. With development and expansion, there will inevitably be difficulties with change. Swords expanded hugely in the last 30 years, but yet it’s a desirable place...

''This place is getting worse'' - Actually This place is getting much much better!!Beacuse we'll have a by-pass road in use by the end of the year meaning a huge proportion of traffic will not pass through our village. Isn't it positive that three schools are 'in the planning' for the Ballymastone ...

This place is getting worse
yes yes a dramatic subject line but it's how i feel. the people are great, the community is great, the sports clubs are great, but..... we are being dictated to by developers. the roads are in bits. takes planning now to get in and out of the village. we are a large town with village infrastructure ...

Re: Foreign students attacked and robbed in village tonight
Infrastructure emcompasses many things including road, rail, public transport etc. Giving one example...... We are going to have the same population as Naas and Athlone. That's pretty much a given and is covered in the LAP. Naas have 78 Gardai and Athlone have 49 Gardai, according to the last availa...

Re: Public Meeting - Planning Moratorium - Tuesday 26th
What I took from the meeting was that a moratorium may not be legal, and even if it is legal it may not be effective. However, in the absence of any other instrument it might keep the pressure on Fingal to provide infrastructure which is so badly needed. i think you're right. i think those calling ...
