Re: Two development sites near the village....

Thanks everyone for the replies, all very interesting. I agree that car parks are the last thing the peninsula needs - plenty of capacity there as it is, and a key selling point for all of the new developments will be that they are within walking distance of the train station anyways. Plus we're abo...

Re: Two development sites near the village....

Thanks very much for the updates.

Any indication if the Turvey site is a Lidl or Aldi, or either?

Two development sites near the village....

Hi there, The site opposite the hockey pitch and the secondary school is a hive of activity at present. I think I seen a mention that the new Gaelscoil is being constructed there. Anyone can confirm this? Also, the site at the very top of Turvey Avenue, opposite the smaller of the Train Station's ca...

Re: Insect Bites

I had the exact same thing happen me about three weeks ago cutting some ivy in the garden - huge bites on my hand and wrist that swelled up - quite unsettling, I thought it was a spider to be honest that got me as they seem to love the ivy at this time of year. When I got cream in the pharmacy they ...

Re: Burrow to Rush ferry

Any joy on this one Ken?

The Schools' Folklore Collection in UCD might be a good place to look on this one. Lots of interesting local stuff there such as 'The Smuggling Caves of Portrane' - https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4498569/4 ... ID=4498569

Re: Grey Square

Have you tried looking at the old OS maps of the area? Certainly wouldn't give an accurate year, but by process of elimination could narrow it down quite a bit.

Nitelink in Donabate

Just wondering does anybody know the route of the Nitelink (41N) through the village and how long it takes to get back from town?

Re: Advice for a Newbie

Bought a place in Donabate two years ago after renting in Portmarnock for a few years. An absolutely beautiful area to live in, spectacular beach and the beautiful cliff walk around Portrane are as good as any in Dublin. Would definitely move back to Donabate in a heartbeat were we to do it all over...

Re: Houses Ballymastone Disaster

Thanks for the responses guys. We still think it seems like a great place to live, and going by this board alone it seems there's a strong sense of community spirit that will rub off on new residents and hopefully influence everyone for the better. I'll find that group and support them and fingers ...

Re: New Yoga Course in the Community Well

Hi there, This is Laura here. Thank you for your interest in the classes. Unfortunately this is the only class running at the weekend for the moment. It is a pity it clashes with Parkrun which I also enjoy taking part in. However, the Community well only has availability at this time. If you are int...

Re: Building in Gallery

They're completing the final two units of The Gallery that stopped years back. I assume that they are completing the new building and then moving on to the shell. Initial time frame for completion was late-summer 2018 according to the Management Company Director (this was the case when I last spoke ...

New Yoga Course in the Community Well

As we move into the cold, dark days of winter our energy and our mood can shift. The Christmas season quickly draws in and our weekends become filled with shopping centres and gift wrapping. This November take the opportunity to step out of the hustle and bustle of the world and join Laura in a Satu...

Re: Site clearing - Thursday 1am to 3am

There was a very loud machine doing work on the train line around the station I think around that time, the kind of line work that we, in the Gallery, are supposed to get a notice about in the post (no-notice last night)! It could have been this that you were hearing. There was a small DART derailme...

Re: Trains noise

Having lived in Portmarnock before moving to the Gallery, the sound of the trains is far easier to get used to than flights coming into the airport. It passes by in a few seconds, planes landing have a rising and falling sound that can be very frustrating! Also, the last train is at midnight, first ...
