Re: Flight Path
The new runway means more capacity and more flights, but like the other poster said it’s very much down to wind direction and destination in terms of determining how many flights go over Donabate. Some days there are lots, some days not many.

Re: Not right in the head
Tacking dog owners about theirs dogs shits (or behaviour) is not easy. I’ve seen people getting a mouthful of abuse for asking dog owners to put their dogs on leads, or pick up after them. The entitlement is out there. Leaving their little bags of shit all over the place really annoys me but I’ve ye...

Re: Dog litter bin near park
I emailed environment@fingal.ie on Saturday about it and by coincidence(?) it was emptied Sunday morning. I say coincidence because I can’t believe anyone in Fingal would be checking their email on a Saturday.

Dog litter bin near park
Why do dog owners put their little bags of dog shit on top of the bin and not in the bin?

Re: Rahillion v Beresford
We bought in Rahillion. The estate isn’t finished yet so be aware of that. Builder is taking his sweet time too. Houses are A rated and impressively cheap to heat with air heat exchange pumps so (no gas). Our energy consumption Aug 2020-Aug2021 was 7000kwh (and the whole family was home for that per...

Re: Houses Ballymastone Disaster
Personally I hate the attitude that people who live in social/affordable housing are somehow less worthy than people who pay full market price/rent and should be excluded because people who pay full market price/rent "don't like" the idea. Do they prefer the idea of creating entire develop...

Re: Houses Ballymastone Disaster
The Glenveagh houses in Semple Woods flew up, and it’s a nice estate by the looks of it. I think Mr Stupid is is making a big assumption about the types of people who buy affordable homes - they’re often nurses, guards, young people starting out. My former neighbour is a young solicitor and is renti...

Re: Two development sites near the village....
to be honest, I think that site & the one next to it should be reserved for train station parking. if population going to double in coming years & existing station parking is already at capacity.... That said, I live very close to the train station so I don't need parking. So bring on anoth...

They're down the road to the wastewater treatment plant - not far from where they were located previously. I was running along the route through the woods and unfortunately they're using the path as a toilet judging by the amount of toilet paper blowing around (the huge human turd laid right in the ...

The council bye laws state you can't unfortunately fly a UAV in parks - unless it's sanctioned by the council (e.g. you're working for them) https://www.fingal.ie/sites/default/files/2019-03/Parks%20%20Open%20Spaces%20Bye%20Laws%202017.pdf "Drones" classed as toys (under 250g, no camera) m...

Re: Retail units at station- back again
The bar is so low for urban development in Donabate that my initial impression is that it's not *that* bad, though it is pretty ugly. IMHO nowhere near as a bad as the eyesore Warrington Mews by the church. Lots of space for parking and you do need that for a supermarket - assuming it will take a su...

Huge flock of birds over Turvey/Broadmeadow

Re: Internet / Broadband
I've had Vodafone, eir and Sky in Carrs Mill over the years and Sky was the best by far in terms of support. When something went wrong with the others the support was terrible, beyond awful. That said, Sky was still unreliable and was awful during the first lockdown. Moved to a house with fibre and ...

Re: Insect Bites
Yes, they’re mosquitos. Some people have a hard time believing we have mosquitoes in Ireland but yes, we do. Lots here, especially near Ballymastone where there is lots of marshy land. Eaten alive there some nights. I use Insect repellent (when I remember) if going down there.

The work behind Rahillion is site reinstatement. This was the builders depot for the estate and there is nothing planned for this land according to the Fingal CoCo website.

Works on Portrane Cliff walk
Anyone aware of the plans for the works on the cliff walk? I know it's been closed a while but it was possible to walk on some sections that look quite safe and in no danger of collapse - the section north of the beach nearest St Itas Hospital for example, which is set back quite far from the sea, i...

Re: Wearing of face masks
The masks aren't working in all fairness if the new cases for Yesterday Saturday the 15th August are at 200. The majority of people are still not wearing them, so you can't attribute the recent spike to the wearing of masks as we don't have enough people wearing them for them to be effective. The m...

4.5m would be great, but I'd be happy if the various joggers/walkers/cyclists kept to the 2m to start. There are always a few people who think the rules don't apply to them.
