Re: Houses Ballymastone Disaster
I've seen statements that "vulture funds" won't be allowed to purchase but has any guarantee been sought or given that the 60% allocated for private buyers won't be sold to Cluid, Peter McVerry Trust, Simon, Tuath et al? I'm all for mixed developments but fear that the 20% allocation will ...

The new router Eir are using (a Sagemcom unit) seems to be worse than useless as well. Have numerous devices in our home (including our WIFI thermostat control for the heating) that can't seem to communicate with it.

I'd share aoifey's concerns about the amount of development happening and, in particular, the levels of that development that are likely to end up as social housing. I've nothing against social housing in principle but FCC are taking the piss in terms of the percentage being allocated as social in t...

A much easier means of letting them know we're interested in this is to register your interest via the website:
https://siro.ie/register-your-interest/
Looks like it won't be much more expensive than regular broadband once it's installed either: Sky are offering SIRO based broadband for €35 a month

With the elimination of Lorraine Clifford Lee, the peninsula has just lost it's last chance at having a TD.
We're royally f***ed now, utterly at the mercy of the council's slip-shod planning.

Re: Toxic Masculinity - Men's Social?
Toxic Masculinity doesn't exist as anything other than a concept in the pseudo-intellectual world of third wave feminism (which could more accurately now be described as female supremacism). I'm sorry you've internalised the misandry of those around you OP. Perhaps as you get a bit older, read a lit...

Swimming Lessons?
Can anyone recommend somewhere accessible by public transport from Portrane that has good swimming lessons for a 10 year old? We had her in (extremely expensive) lessons for a couple of years near where we used to live but I was shocked to discover that she could barely swim when we brought them on ...

Donabate Community College - Back to School dates?
Anyone know when the kids are back to school?
Doesn't seem to be anything on the school website or any mention of it in on the booklist.
Specifically wondering about second year.

What does Donabate / Portrane need?
In light of the upcoming elections, I thought it might be interesting to see what posters here actually want for the area. It might prove useful for candidates to see our thoughts on what the residents of the peninsula actually want from them before they start making their promises. Personally, the ...

Genuinely surprised to hear it's still the same chef. The old menu had gorgeous seafood (and standard) platters, the chips used to be fresh rather than frozen McCain rubbish.

Which of the candidates for the council live locally? The more councillors we have from the peninsula, the more chance we have of getting services and infrastructure improved to meet the planned increase in our population.

Re: Public Meeting - Planning Moratorium - Tuesday 26th
Unless they plan to run the cycle lane the full length of the Hearse Road, there's no real point in putting on onto the new distributor road. In fact, it could lead to more problems than not having one at all by encouraging more cyclists to put their lives at risk by cycling along the Hearse Road.

They're based in the Top Oil service station. Do a good job too. That said, I got it done two weeks ago and within a few days of driving around the area and parking at the train station during the week, it was utterly filthy again. Re: Train service from Donabate to Connolly Station
RochelleD-Jones, as Batman3 says, there's plenty of parking in the station. At current usage levels it's never more than 2/3rds full. Parking costs €30 a month with Apcoa and it's far from unusual to see cars clamped so they obviously keep a close eye on it.

It saddens me tbh. Adrian Henchy seems to be a great local representative but should he ever make (what'd seem an inevitable) bid for a Dáil seat I couldn't give him a vote in good conscience.
