Would be odd if it is a Tesco, because in a submission to the original planning application in 2015, Tesco said "...if permitted, would be contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area."

Urban Framework Planning
Myself and my pitchfork were at the library on the night of the behind-closed-doors Urban Framework meeting last January. It is becoming clear to me now why the council would be surprised about the community reaction to being excluded, because a leaflet I received describes the scope of the 'Urban F...

Re: Meeting 21 Jan at 6pm in Donabate Library all welcome!
It seems to be widely advertised that Fingal “ hired private security “ to man the door at the workshop . Are these not the staff of The leisure centre , who I presume were asked to help manage a large crowd on a health and safety issue and ensure that the bookings and classes could be accessed wit...

Re: Regret Buying Home in DONABATE?
As a potential buyer in Donabate, looking to close on sale in the coming weeks, should I really be worried about these threads that keep popping up regarding the goings on in Donabate? You shouldn't worry. I moved here about 20 years ago, I think I have a reasonable and fair opinion of the place. I...

Re: Train service from Donabate to Connolly Station
The idea of changing at Malahide is interesting, especially now with the increased overcrowding and frequent terminations of service at Connolly. Anyone doing this regularly? I did it once. Thought I was fierce clever. Then the dart I was on pulled over in clongriffin and sat for 10 minutes until t...

Re: New Houses at Beresford
Just wondering for people who aren’t from Donabate itself... Thats pretty much everyone. Welcome, fellow blow-in. I’m just wondering more like can you stroll into the village and get a nice coffee or lunch/dinner and if the local pubs are OK? Or do you have to drive to Swords, Skerries etc. I think...

Re: DPCC questioning Ballymastone development
I think it is http://planning.fingalcoco.ie/swiftlg/a ... =F18A/0618 which is a massive area starting at Smyths pub carpark, behind The Strand, and filling in most of the land between existing Donabate and the new distributor road.

Re: Flavours of Fingal traffic
At about 18:30, traffic was backed up from the motorway junction to the Tesco roundabout; 2 lanes of ~1km tailback. So anyone coming down from Blakes Cross direction, or leaving Flavours/Donabate via Turvey Avenue would have been impacted.

Re: Hearse Road after the railway bridge
The road is being widened, but it doesn't look like its being done all the way to the corner, so the area outside Prospect Hill will still have no path. There is also an entrance being built, presumably for access to planning application F16A/0179. So in one part of Donabate, a developer is being to...

Re: Cycleway to Malahide Progress
Since its only connecting the two parks does this mean it wont be accessible after hours? eg 4pm in the winter? Is it possible to make submissions to fingal to request this type of thing? The part outside the park will be accessible, and the new distributor road will have a cycle path along it, so ...

Re: Cycleway to Malahide Progress
I'm very disappointed with that route and the statement that it is a "recreational stretch of greenway". Maybe it'll improve if its extended North, but for now, it looks like its designed only to encourage traffic from Malahide to Newbridge house. Will look great on a shiny tourist brochur...

Re: Semple Woods new development
I believe the developer has applied to ABP to be allowed to increase the number of 'units' in Semple Woods from 251 to 328. (Fewer houses, more apartments).

Re: Elections
At this stage I’m leaning towards Bob Dowling(I am not normally an FG voter). If the community wants anything to be done looks like he’d be the main route to the government and get that Tilsbury monstrosity stopped. Might give Mulville 2nd but that’s it. Isn't it An Bord Pleanála, implementing gover...

Re: This place is getting worse
Donabate doesn’t feature in a list of the fastest growing towns in Ireland (2). That said, Donabate isn’t even growing as fast as Lusk, Rush, Ashbourne or Kinsealy. And now look forward, to the end of expansion plan which is already in progress: A target of 5,200 additional homes, giving a populati...
