Re: Desecration of Donabate Historical Location
Unfortunately, not a surprise. When things in Ireland stand in the way of development, they get 'resolved'.
The 'developers' of these actions rarely if ever, get brought to justice.

Re: WARNING Drunks on beach lane & living in same area.
I think you miss the point, so I’ll help you out. Pointing out that someone is a ‘non national’ in this context is racist. The fact that they are drunk and leery is potentially relevant, the fact that they are ‘foreigners’ is not - does it make them more drunk? More leery? More reason to be fearful...

Re: WARNING Drunks on beach lane & living in same area.
So, in summary, these guys are foreign, unemployed, leery and drunkards, We should immediately unite against this horror. Folks round these parts don’t take too kindly. to these types. I have some flaming torches and some pitch forks if you would like to establish an angry mob? Let me know, I’m fre...

Re: Aldi Planning Permission for Donabate
Planners?? What a joke. These guys couldn't plan their way out of trouble. It's one bad planning decision after another. They are civil servants with no formal training in environmental engineering or anything similar. They have no concept of the issues they create with their bumbling incompetence. ...

There has to be a link to the fact that there were no issues, during the enforced construction lockdown. During that time, I'm sure domestic usage would have been higher than since the restrictions were eased.

Just keep building houses, that'll resolve all. 30 mins trying to get home from gates of Newbridge, another 30 min before home. Planning!

Re: Muck on portane road
All, I have noticed that the road seems very slippery the last week. I had an incident where I nearly slid into the back of someone, as I found it difficult to stop despite not going more than 20 - my tyres had no grip. I have new tyres, so that is not the issue. I also noticed it whilst driving my ...

Re: Up in smoke
Some of the previous comments are truly unbelievable! If this was somebody's house, then would it be considered inexcusable? Someone who has worked very hard to build up a business has had her world turned upside down, and there are idiots who seem nearly willing to consider it, just something bored...

Enough!
It's bad enough every morning, competing with the heavy transport trucks, that I understood were NOT to be allowed on the road during school start/end times, to get out of Donabate, but then trying to get into Donabate this afternoon, at just after 2pm, took me over 30 mins! This was a direct result...

Construction traffic early morning
Hi, I may have been experiencing a night mare, but I was awake early this morning and heard a lot of construction traffic on the Portrane Road from our house in The Links. I was just wondering if anyone else heard it, or if it was my imagination. Can anyone confirm? If it was there, does anyone know...

Re: Heat loss advice in The Links
Thanks for the input Derek. We have had the windows checked by 2 different people who checked for gabs and sagging, but they both said windows were ok - that was one of our initial suspicions. We also replaced hall door. I think your points on the air between walls and skirting, would definitely be ...

Heat loss advice in The Links
Long time issue, first time query! Our house in The Links loses heat very quickly once the heating goes off, and that is during the current not excessively cold days. Wondering if others in The Links have similar issues and whether they have any suggestions? The heat loss seems worst in sitting room...

Re: Zombies crossing roads in Donabate
Well said Hammy! As both a driver and pedestrian in Donabate village at rush hour and other times, I agree that motorists should be far more aware. I have rarely, if ever, been held up for an unreasonable amount of time by pedestrians, when driving, and would have far more concerns with the attitude...

Re: Fingal cutting down one third of the trees in the Links
Hi Fiona, I agree with you wholeheartedly, on the arbitrary approach and the underhand way these actions are invariably executed. Not only is there a lack of engagement or at least a valid notification on the requirement (justified or not), to remove these trees. As others have said, a lot of people...

Hi JP, This may be something I would be interested in - I am working in IT a long time, but have recently toyed with the idea of learning programming - more as a hobby / extended learning, than a career! Re: modular housing
Interested to hear if anyone has any updates in relation to this hot topic? As many have said, the issue of integrated social housing is not the issue, it is the approach being taken. If the councils enforced the 10% social housing allocation for ALL developments, instead of allowing the developers ...

Re: modular housing
This is a very serious topic, and one that requires proper engagement and representation for the entire Donabate community. Whilst speaking to one of my neighbours yesterday, I was made aware of the Donabate community council, who are the umbrella representation for all of the residential groups. I ...
