Re: Hearse Road

Completely agree with the original poster. A plan for the Hearse road should be the starting point for the local area plan. What is the point in having a lovely dual carriage way with cycle lanes than then peters out into the single lane, no-verge, death trap that is the Hearse road. The LAP seems t...

Planning application

[Topics merged by Bill] In general I am not favour of any large planning applications in Donabate unless there is some concrete gain for the whole of the existing community. If someone is building a few houses its not a big deal but when a hundred houses are going in I think there should be somethin...

Re: Running Club

Sound good lads. I do a fair bit of running but not sure if I could commit to a club - I guess it would depend on what times the runs were and if that suited re work, kids etc.
Either way best of luck with the venture.

Re: New Layout at roundabout

Micropoodle you are missing the bizzare three lanes that merge into two as you are heading to Swords now. The road to Swords is dual carriageway way with two lanes but somehow the roundabout/cut-through/whatever-you-call-it-thing that leads has three lanes so you have to merge furiously (just as peo...

Re: New Layout at roundabout

the budget has been cut for the flyover Pat due to current overruns on the bicycle tunnel and the cost of the psychiatric treatment needed for the engineer who was tasked with designing the new road layout. There is a partial budget so we can start the build process and will end up with a system of ...

Re: Campaign for swimming pool in donabate/portrane

Skerries have been trying to build a pool for a while now. Roscrea (pop 5,403) have an amazing pool. The campaign took about 20 years. I think a campaign for a pool is a good idea. What's to lose? Though tennis courts might be a more reachable goal as they are much cheaper to run. Developers sometim...

Longacres was also up for sale recently. Its a long way back from the water but the erosion of the beach is pretty scary so would imagine it too could be under threat.

Fun galaxy in airside is great. Great for a two year old. I think you get a free coffee with the price of entry which is nice. You cant bring food in but can buy food there if you want to.

Never heard of parkrun before. Looks brilliant. Will definitely check out the Malahide run at some stage. What a great idea. Looks like the Malahide run is one of only two in the republic. Great to have it so close by.

Yeah they do have to widen the tunnel to fit the bookies but are now hoping to squeeze in a ghost estate there too. This ghost estate will be conveniently situated near a variety of local amenities such as the cycle lane.

Re: Vodafone Home Broadband

A quick perusal of Boards.ie and it seems three broadband has its problems.

Looking at DigWeb now instead. They seem to be cheaper than Vodafone, Sky, Eircom for comparable products across the board. Where is the catch this time?

For a very tiny fraction of the tunnel they could put cat eyes on the hearse road. This would make a great difference to drivers and cyclists.

Interesting. I wonder if it was a planning condition of the house that there was a "public amenity" associated with it. Given its location it was likely zoned that way (I am guessing).

Re: How could we make Donabate Portrane better

I think tennis courts would be great. A friend of mine lives in a housing estate in Galway and the developer added in a couple of tennis courts. Basic enough but they sort of look after themselves I think.
