It's getting ridiculous.
One power cut every four or five years is probably understandable. But lately it's been one every four or five weeks.
It surely indicates a problem with ESB's local infrastructure. It's simply too frequent for any other explanation.

Re: Election prediction
Yes, the FG vote will be the most interesting part of the Fingal count. FG will definitely have enough for one seat. But who will get it? Farrell sprung a surprise when beating Reilly to that seat in 2016. But he hasn't excelled himself in the Dail since then and that whiplash claim has been hanging...

Re: Election prediction
My prediction for our constituency: One seat each for FG, SF, Lab, Green and FF. Reasoning: FG, SF and FF are polling well enough to protect their existing seats but not even remotely well enough to get a second. The Greens won the recent by-election and Duncan Smith polled very impressively for Lab...

Ha ha! Well done to whoever did that. The video of her going into a halal shop in Swords and demanding sausages snd rashers before pretending to get outraged on the grounds that 'Irish people love pork' is the cringiest video I've ever seen. Racists are never intelligent but she's taking racist stup...

Re: Show me the money
Thanks for that, Seamus. No doubt a wily politician will point out that the amount of money coming from central government and Fingal combined is significantly bigger than the money raised from developers on the peninsula but it still won't change the fact that there's a hell of a lot more infrastru...

Re: Show me the money
Quick question: Is the distributor road not included in the 'paltry 650,000' that has been spent on infrastructure in Donabate? I'm sure It cost a lot more than that. And it would help to be clear on the issue. Pretty soon prospective FG TDs and their FF counterparts who have been supporting them in...

Bye-election time in our constituency. The posters have started going up, already. And already one of the candidates, Lorraine Clifford-Lee is on the front page of the Independent apologising for some off colour tweets she sent ages ago. A bad start to her campaign but those tweets aren't even remot...

Re: Local Election Results 2019
Well done to those elected and commiserations to Corina and Bob. Corina Johnston seems a little unlucky to miss out, especially when you consider how the vote broke down: Labour: 25.7% Fianna Fail: 24.8% Fine Gael: 13.3% Social Democrats: 8.2%: Greens: 4.8% Sinn Fein: 4.2% Independents: 19.1% And ye...
Re: Elections
It's tempting to simply give your vote to the local candidates. But don't just assume that they all agree with you on the way forward for the locality. Take Adrian Henchy, for instance. At the recent meeting on the subject of a moratorium on new builds he was the only local politician to stand up ag...

Re: Eir TV and broadband
Until a couple of years ago I had a landline with Eir, mobiles with vodafone, broadband with Eir and TV with Sky. Getting them all with Eir saved me almost 80 euro per month. (That figure could change of course depending on whether you're getting sport and movie packages) The reception is absolutely...

1. Yep. Way over the top. 2. Yes. I wouldn't worry about the stuff you read on message boards or social media. Most of it is nonsense. It's true that construction traffic is causing a problem but that's only temporary. And there's no doubt that the council need to sort out the Hearse Road issue as i...

Re: Public meeting Tuesday, Feb 6th, 8 pm
Some interesting points. the forecast is for Donabate to have a population of 21,000, similar to Athlone or Naas. but so far there are no plans to upgrade the Hearse Road or provide an enhanced water supply that could serve that many people. Cart before the horse thinking again from Fingal Co. Co. S...

Re: Donabate Relief Road - €15m Investment
The Donabate LAP didn't just guarantee that the distributor road would be built. It also confirmed that the council had to ensure that the road leading to it was up to scratch. And, as common sense tells us you can't serve a major road with a minor boreen (which is what the Hearse Road is, let's fac...

Re: Up in smoke
This thread has gone off the rails a bit. From people making stuff up (we all know who did it apparently...although obviously we don't) to people banging on about Donabate being the new 'no go area' on the basis of....no evidence at all. Having lived in various parts of Dublin and beyond (including ...

30 minutes to get from the Community centre to Keelings. 30 minutes!!! And it got worse. Within an hour the traffic that had been backed up as far as the Community Centre was backed up half way to Portrane. And coming in to Donabate was just as bad. I'm not against road works. If somebody is digging...

Re: Developers dumping on Donabate
Great turn out last night. Hopefully the numbers alone will have an impact. Notably, it was the contribution from Councillor Duncan Smith that seemed to strike a chord with people. When he said he was very suspicious about why the permission was granted for the New Road development with such alarmin...

Re: Developers dumping on Donabate
That's astonishing. Why on Earth have the council given permission to build outside the LAP? The LAP is there for a reason. And how ridiculous is it that a developer famed for going bankrupt is the one who has managed to do this apparently dubious deal? Perhaps all those developers who were partly r...

No problems at all with Eir. They've got those fibre cabinets all over Donabate so it's easy to get high broadband speeds. It's always very reliable.

Re: the lies are back
That certainly isn't a lie. The government wasn't re-elected and the new government can't be accused of lying because they're not implementing the last government's policies. In fact, given that voters rejected the previous government's policies, implementing the 1% cut would be a negation of democr...

I've got Eir for everything. TV, Broadband, Landline and four mobiles. Worked out much cheaper than previously (which was Sky for TV, Vodafone mobiles and Eir for broadband and landline). No problems with the TV reception either. In fact, there was a crossover period of two weeks when we still had S...
