Re: Regret Buying Home in DONABATE?
Definitely don’t remove the post. The original post is strongly worded and I don’t agree with all of it but it has some important points. I moved to Donabate 5 years ago and absolutely love the place, it’s amazing. However, people living here NEED to get involved with local planning and helping guid...

Re: Newbridge slow destruction
Hi Adrian, Thanks for your quick efforts in this. I saw you contacted them and got a reply. I totally disagree with their answers though, or at least the way it’s being implemented. Firstly, if they have budget to rejuvenate woodland, surely the money should be spent planting completely new woodland...

Re: Newbridge slow destruction
Thanks for setting this up. They’re doing the same in Malahide park too. Apparently the ivy is killing the trees. If that’s the case, why not just clear the ivy from the trees and leave the undergrowth. Signed and sent on, hopefully everyone will get involved and at least send the message that peopl...

Re: Newbridge slow destruction
Yeah it’s very disappointing. Can anything be done though? As a basic step they should provide a list of their plans for the park and some details on this supposed ‘Forest Rejuvenation’ if it is good practice or not. I suspect not. And how far are they planning on going with their clearing? I emaile...

Newbridge slow destruction
Hi, I see the lads with the saws are out again trying to make Newbridge more attractive. They’re basically cutting out everything at ground level and leaving trees above 15 foot or so. This is all well established habitat for birds and other animals. They claim it to be Forest Rejuvenation but askin...

Re: Bees need a new home!
Thanks a million but really trying to find somewhere in Donabate. I only get a small amount of time to get up to the hive and manage it so looking for something close to home. Thanks a million though!

Bees need a new home!
Hi all, I keep some bees (3-4 hives) currently up in Corballis allotments. I need to move them off that site and to somewhere a bit more secluded but local. Anyone know of any farmers or land owners that wouldn't mind bees on their land? Car access would be ideal since during some months there is a ...

Re: Destruction of tress in Newbridge Demesne
Yes but there was no need to cut the old trees. The new trees were planted elsewhere.
It also probably takes about 20 years for what you said to be true. And the survival rate of the new trees needs to be high.
The point is that there was no need to chop the old trees.

Because If you’re seeing the animals for free, then why would you pay in?
Also explains all the trees being cut down around the place and bushes being cleared.

Re: New Houses at Beresford
Hi! We’ve lived here for 3 years now and love it. I find it very quiet at night, I’m usually out walking the dog and usually all you meet are more dog walkers. Beverton is very quiet too. Sure you have the old Turvey golf course on one side, bird sanctuary and other golf course on another on newbrid...

Re: Destruction of tress in Newbridge Demesne
Yeah I totally agree. It’s a joke, do they not have some mandate to preserve the trees and wildlife that live among them? (The blackberry bushes have all been removed in the field beside where the gate was added, and whatever rabbits lived there too-probably buried). I thought the park was doing a g...

Re: Break Ins
On that night, in Beresford, nothing was broken into. They were opportunists, checking any open doors on cars and looking over the side gate. You’d be surprised how many doors are left open in an estate, I was anyway!

Break Ins
Hi all, There have been a few roberies in and arouynd the Beresford estate on the night of 31st August at 2300. A lad in a hoodie was checking car doors going from house to house and manages to rob the contents of a few unlocked cars. Remember to lock up, these lads don't care if they're spotted or ...

Re: Watch out for swarms of bees!
Hey everyone! That time of year again to look out for swarms of bees! See the attached for what to look out for. A big mass of bees hanging from a branch or something similar. I can come and catch the swarm and give it a good home up on Corballis allotments! The attached images are for a swarm that ...

Still interested and got out on Donabate a few times over the last few months. A great spot!
Might be worth getting a WhatsApp group together to let people know when they are heading out and to keep an eye on weather conditions. I'm using the Tesco windmill as a good reference!
