Re: Vodafone internet

According to the downdetector app, others are also still down since yesterday. Customer care is crap at the best of times.

Re: Vodafone internet

Yeah, they had a national level outage yesterday 4 or 5 hours. Mine came back last night. As far as I know they pushed some sort of update to routers so maybe power the box down and up again to restart it.

Re: Wearing of face masks

I think they (local Donabate business)should remove that message from their chalk board now. They've made their point. I still shop there but the notice is really beginning to annoy me. All their customers are wearing masks any time I am there so should they not follow their lead. They have other l...

Re: Internet speed

Getting cheesed off with Vodafone service quality, seems to go through 'storms' where a ping can go up to 1,000 m/s before settling again. More than enough to drop you out of a videoconference or zoom. Had the router replaced recently. Fibre not available in my part of Donabate. I agree that using 5...

Road cyclists will always prefer to cycle on roads. Despite the OP’s strange obsession with what they wear, the road is the best place for eh ‘road cyclists’

Whilst I wish them the best as a successful local business, what the hell has prompted them to think they are in ‘Phase One’?

I’ve gone through the list, but don’t see ice cream mentioned.

Re: Fingal express to city centre

These 'Express' services are vey successful in areas where there is no train or where Dublin Bus / Bus Eireann is painfully slow. I doubt such a service would get sufficient traction here. Long term I would l would prefer to see extra capacity on the trains. Or Dart.

Re: Village arrivals

In an attempt to try and figure out what was going on, I went to the 'Donabate Village' facebook page. Here, the admin was passing on rumours that she heard they were all from Balbriggan. This comment was rightly derided and the post / discussion was then taken down. Thats exactly what I dislike abo...

The road tax thing is a joke. Everybody except taxi drivers and people that phone Joe Duffy know that there is none.

Re: Men's cycling group......

As a cyclist, I usually avoid Hearse Road as drivers tend to go too fast and lose control on bends. They then bang on about the road being 'lethal'. I can't really comment any further as I don't pay road tax.

Re: Men's cycling group......

The proximity to Swords Cycling Club means many of the enthusiasts on the peninsula cycle with the Club. They have very good spins (some about 2 hours) on Saturdays and Sunday mornings which can be joined by prospective members. Its very sociable and there's a level for everyone including beginners....

No issues with it in The Strand, even the 3G is very good. I'd say its because we're on a hill and the proper signal meant for the rich people in Malahide wafts over the wall.

Its getting worse, yesterday's traffic jams were an absolute nuisance. At this stage I'd say to hell with them, put a double yellow all the way down the village green along the New Road.

The notorious Dublin criminal 'The Chicken' is said to be living in Donabate. He was living in Somerton and then The Links. I've no idea why he crossed the road.

Smyths

I just noticed the Planning Permission sign on Smyth's Pub this morning. Permission sought for 'entire demolition' -whatever that means- and for permission to construct a two story mixed use development featuring apartments and a café. Possibly Starbuks?
