Re: Dog Barking - Beverton

I found online a 'Bark Control' Device. Its for training dogs. Basically it emits a high frequency noise, only audible to our canine friends. Its only triggered when the dog barks, thus the dog learns that barking will illicit the unpleasant noise & thus the dog stops barking. For best results i...

Good Man Mr. Stupid. There was a case a few years back, where a land owner was getting objections to planning permission. He gave access to the travelling community. The objections where withdrawn. I'll assume, since you didn't answer, that you do feel more entitled to a swimming pool within 5 minut...

Move along, get along, move along, get along, go, move , shift.

They really should know better. No more residents, No social housing, No mentally ill patients, no one else welcome in Donabate. Homelessness crisis? not our problem! Now give us our new road.

Re: Planning Portrane Road

Hi Steve, had a look at this. 1) They are houses, much like the surrounding properties? 2) The "Lethal" description of the exit is nonsense. 3) This cut and paste thing is probably your best bet for an objection. Some may see it as grasping at straws though. I find, using a fair and open m...

Re: New Social Housing

Not sure.. I believe it used to be one in twelve new homes had to be social & affordable.

What always struck me is, if a proportion of houses are social & affordable, does that mean the rest are anti-social & unaffordable :?

Re: Embarrassed to be from Donabate

A few years ago, in Dublin city centre, a man had a heart attack at the wheel. Motorists beeped him, drove around him etc as he was dying at the wheel. A taxi man passed him looked in, thought something looked odd, drove around the block again to get back to him, and assisted him. Too late in the en...

Re: A few hundred new homes

400 new homes... 1200 (estimate) new people. Say 200 new adults maybe 150 of whom will work (yes stay at home parents work a tough job but these are excluded) Some may work from home. Some may not work 9-5 So a conservative estimate = 100 additional adults working 9-5ish, some travel by train, some ...

I would much prefer if Tesco didn’t build so many energy efficient buildings in Ireland. They built the first passive standard supermarket in Ireland. I've been to their “carbon Neutral” supermarket in Cabra... Its not cold in the freezer isles as the cool air produced is captured and used to cool o...

Great place to live, I live in an estate close to Cois Inbhir. This forum, and it’s predecessor is actually fairly uncommon. I have friends who have had burglaries (mainly bikes from sheds), in places like Malahide, Greystones, Blackrock, Howth. The thing is, people don’t hear about them. When somet...

I don’t live in Cois Inbher, but I do live very close to it. The lads are having a bit of a laugh with you. Yes, Donabate, like everywhere else, is not immune to burglaries. I’ve moved to Donabate in 2006, and I haven’t been robbed yet. I think Donabate is a great place to live. Although I am consid...

Absolutely no doubt that the health system in this country requires extreme improvements. But guess what, there is another problem… the population. Almost two out of five Irish adults (38%) are overweight. In addition, more than one in five (23%) is obese. (These figures are a few years old, and hav...

I can see your point, but when you say “they should be finishing existing developments before starting any new ones”. who are you talking about? who is ‘they' We don’t live in a communist regime, so house building in this country is reliant on private developers. Re: Beverton - Fireplaces suitable for Open Fire?

If you see a chimney on your roof, then you should be fine. You might want to look into a wood burner. The problem with open fires is they draw air from the room & up through the roof. Consider the fact that during the winter you are paying to heat this air that escaped through your chimney. Woo...
