Re: Sewer Survey
Possibly, I saw them out looking at levels along the DDR. They're probably figuring out that the levels of drainage along the DDR are not suited to the lower lying land around it!!

Re: Dunrovin Portrane Rd
Jip it looks like a bit of madness, how are they expecting anyone taking their kids to school to cross the Portrane road, there is no pedestrian crossing and you’d be mad to put one so close to the bend!! I had a look at the planning application online F19a/0315 and we as a community would not do ou...

Re: Erosion at Portrane
That's great news, long time overdue but at least it is getting going. Was out there again not to long ago and was shocked at the state of it, really dangerous for anyone using the beech going near it, almost 16ft of eroded vertical face of beech sand. I think we have to say a big thanks to Paul Mul...

Thanks for the handy info Ken, just had a look at it. But also feel that they should at least have some point of contact especially if "The Donabate/Portrane Community Liaison Committee is a forum to exchange information". How do you exchange information if nobody can contact you, this is ...

Walkway to be closed, trees on Balisk common to be cut down
With a bit of a shock I was told this week that we stand to lose the last remaining trees on the Ballisk common along with the public walkway that goes into the back gate of the community centre. There seems to be a planning application in the council (f18a/0302) that proposes the permanent closing ...

Re: Donabate Community College
Glad to see that it seems the school have turned a corner and results are improving. Can anybody tell us what was happening at the school yesterday (around lunchtime) with cars parked everywhere around the school (on footpaths ect.) and a Garda car by the reception? Did it have anything to do with t...

Believe what you want mr Stupid.
But I'm sure you're aware of one of the golden rules of capitalism "the more you make (in this case what you build) the cheeper it gets".

Re: A few hundred new homes
For a builder, what would be a realistic profit margin on a new house? Derek, it looks like it could be around 9% of outset cost per project, but I surpose that's al relative to how the wider economy is performing. Taking in account the figures attached are dated and we have a supply and demand pro...

Re: A few hundred new homes
Sorry forgot to mention that's the average prices in the greater Dublin region. I think we still fall under that. I think we might see a better resolve to the current housing issues if the government drop the vat rate from 23% to 15% for builders as suggested by Tom Parlon (the president of the Iris...

Re: A few hundred new homes
This Joker O Reilly again Reilly explained that, “One of the provisions in this particular project is that at least 40 per cent of the housing should be at an affordable price. This is very important; given the way house prices have spiralled recently. From a whole host of viewpoints, for those peo...

Re: Mad corner
Take the bend at an appropriate speed and there won't be a problem. That bend needs to be amended. Depends what your driving, but a average family saloon will not make it through there at 80 km/ph, you'll have to be about 3 or 4 foot over the white line. Can Fingal County Council not use some of it...

Re: Review of recorded protected structures
The Turvey Golf club one is truly sad. It's interesting what one finds in these documents and how our heritage are just been desolved into something that were never there...I wasn't even aware of the following: RPS No.539 Priest’s Chamber, in grounds of St. Ita’s Hospital, Quay (Portraine), Co. Dubl...

Re: Portrane road widening
I know what you mean Pat, I think the road widening is only for the stretch from the St. Michaels house corner to the bus stop at the Cominity Centre and then for the Portrane road as you leave the gates of St Pats ga towards Portrane.

Portrane road widening
Can someone enlighten me as to why it seems that they are just widening the footpath at the approach to the Cominity Centre? I thought it would be road widening, as it was shown in the Cominity Council's observation to the new hospital project that the road falls well below recommended width. Maybe ...

Re: Bomb squad in Donabate!
It was up in the industrial estate at the end of Turvey, device found in a car. That's odd, in the article they clearly say "THE ARMY BOMB disposal unit have been called to remove bomb-making equipment from a housing estate in Donabate." What housing estate is at the industrial estate at ...

Hey guys, How about a appeal to our two local representatives Adrian Henchy and Paul Mullville, to make a request to Fingal County Council for: (a) double yellow lines on either side of the road for approximately 100m past the intersection with the Hearse rd. and, (b) a parking attendant writing out...
