I will pass on your message, he definitely doesn't feel accused. He just gave it a home rather than leave it there.

Re: Red kayak taken from Kilcrea Rd / Malahide Estuary
Hi Ciaran,
I know who decided to give it a home. He is abroad at the moment, but he will return it to the same place this Saturday morning.

Re: Development works in Donabate
I couldn't find a non paywall version, but the headline says "Shapoorji Pallonji owes up to €2 million to a range of trade creditors, who sources say risk ‘being burned’ if it exits Irish market" That probably explains why they've stopped better than a rumour about a mystery underground ri...

Agreed, that was the one I was looking at. The site is completely cleared now, let's hope they start building soon and we get a few new shops in the village.

Re: Development works in Donabate
Whatever it is the plans that were given approval show 6 checkout lanes and the entire floor area for a supermarket. Tesco express seems like the best guess.

Re: Donabate - NIMBY Capital of Ireland
Turvey is definitely not designed as a high volume road for a supermarket. Why would they approve two supermarkets on this road across the street from each other? Especially when there is a new high volume road ready made for this.

Re: Donabate - NIMBY Capital of Ireland
There is already planning permission for a super market in the vacant lot beside the train station. Why do we we need planning permission for another super market on Turvey? That road is already congested and in a terrible state. Why wouldn't the planners insist this new super market is out on the n...

Re: Donapoop, the town of dog poop..and uncivilized dog owners
it's so annoying, obviously it's a minority but that's all it takes to ruin it for everyone. there are some good ideas here on how to deal with it: https://www.treehugger.com/ways-communities-persuade-dog-owners-to-pick-up-poo-4863130 I really like the idea that all dog's DNA has to be registered an...

Re: Aldi Planning Permission for Donabate
What a joke! So many objections ignored and not covered in the granting letter. Does anyone in the community want this? Why can't the one beside the train station go ahead?

Re: Aldi Planning Permission for Donabate
The building beside the train station was granted planning permission on June 9th 2021: https://planning.agileapplications.ie/fingal/application-details/88502 What is described as a "retail convenience foodstore" in the opening sentence is a bit of an understatement, it actually says "...

Re: Cycling the Hearse Road
I still don't get the distinction between TWO ABREAST groups and single file groups. But regardless, I don't think the solution is for slow moving groups or other hard to pass road users to move to the drag strip, poorly surfaced Turvey road. I think a better solution is for people in cars who don't...

I'm also looking for recommendations, also in Beverton. luckycat, are those uPVC prices or aluclad? I haven't started pricing anything so just curious what the budget should be.

Re: Cycling the Hearse Road
I would agree that 2 abreast, 10 metres apart is not being considerate of other road users. They should smarten up. But asking all cyclist to use Turvey road is not the answer.

Re: Cycling the Hearse Road
I don't understand why it's not safe to ride two abreast? I find passing 2 abreast similar to passing a single cyclist. I still go into the other lane.

Re: Cycling the Hearse Road
Is the request about 2 abreast or about a group of cyclists? For me, 2 abreast is no different than a single bike, you still need a clear view to go into the other lane. A group of cyclists in single file would be harder to pass than 2 abreast because it would be a longer line.

No plans but we live in a 4-bed semi in Beverton. We knocked the wall between the kitchen and dining room, that was definitely load bearing and required a RSJ.

Re: Two development sites near the village....
It does seem an unlikely site for a Lidl or Aldi, but this floor plan is definitely not a convenience store http://documents.fingalcoco.ie/NorthgatePublicDocs/00681841.pdf Check out the supermarket lobby with the rows of trolleys, the 6 checkout lines, the supermarket area with 1157 square metres an...

Re: Two development sites near the village....
For the Turvey site, it looks like the last decision was Feb. 9 requesting additional information documented at the end of this document:
http://documents.fingalcoco.ie/Northgat ... 687231.pdf
It seems like minor changes so likely leading to it being granted approval.

Looks pretty big to me. The floor plans have supermarket written on them, one plan shows 6 checkout lanes. So definitely more than a convenience store. The 3d view is not pretty.

My daughters is in 5th year and finding it working well. Hopefully it can go ahead by then. It's a great event for the community and the club. Tough balancing act for the organizers though, you definitely don't want it to be the cause of an outbreak.
