Re: New road Settlers
No sign of these being moved on. At 11:45pm last night as I passed they had a big fire burning, with flames up to 15ft or higher, and with trees overhanging the fire. The Gardaí were called and said it had already been reported and a car was on the way. Didn’t hear anything more. What are our local ...

Re: Ballisk Walkway opening times
A couple of points: From the railway bridge at the station to the main entrance of Beverton is 600m (0.6km). From the railway bridge at the station to the locked/unlocked gate at the back of a Beverton is 700m (0.7km)... Sort of debunks the 'shortcut to Beverton from the train station' argument... P...

DCC - Junior Cert results
Congrats to all in the school on the excellent Junior Cert results today. According to the media there were 98 students nationally who achieved 11 A's, and at least 2 of those were in Donabate Community College, and another student achieved 10 A's and 1 B. Amazing results all round and even moreso c...

Registered Gas Installer
I'm hoping that someone might be able to recommend a Registered Gas Installer - local would be preferable, to replace a gas boiler for a central heating system. Someone local, reliable and reasonably priced would be ideal. Thanks in advance.

Thanks.

Re: Concern over use of the ET building
But these meetings completely fly in the face of the Educate Together ethos. Not at all. If the ET ethos is multi-denominational then surely they feel that everyone (Chritsians, Hindu's, Buddhists, Atheists, Marmalade worshipers) should be free to follow their own beliefs - and that includes the Ch...

Re: Ms Laffoy leaving ???
The day the school turns into an ET school is the day I will take my daughter out of it!! The rules are clearly advertised before anyone sends their child there. ...because parents send their children to Educate Together on the understanding that it'll be 8 years of non-stop, lawless, feral fun? No...

Re: Ms Laffoy leaving ???
Beba, I asked if you had examples of debate being punished and you said you wouldn't say any more on the subject. Such unfounded claims are a bit dangerous and unhelpful. I've asked my daughter about the jumpers. Her answer was that they can take their jumpers off anytime, but the girls generally do...

Based on your continued use of the word "his" - intentionally or otherwise - I take it you want a man to run the school? Do you have examples of where debate has been punished? As for the laughter, my daughter is always smiling going to school and coming home, and her and her friends seem ...

Re: Ms Laffoy leaving ???
Not happy to hear that news at all. She was one of the reasons we felt confident sending our daughter to the school. Her enthusiasm and no-nonsense approach were a big attraction.
I've heard she was head-hunted but not sure how true that is.
She will be a big loss to the school.

Re: Darkness into Light in memory of Cathal
It really was a brilliant experience, and the effort that must have gone into setting up all the route lighting and the marshalls standing along the route etc was amazing. Fair play to the organisers on their efforts. It was so good to see all the teenagers at this event. There were classes from man...

Re: ipads for schools
Surely they will run into other issues as well by having an i-pad rather than physical books - like the i-pad having technical problems, leaving the student without any books for homework, or kids not charging the i-pads (I know I have to remind my kids to charge their phones, and they alwys use the...

I saw on Facebook that there are almost 800 people already registered for the Newbridge House venue for this.
Nice to see a good turnout for the first time the event is being held in Donabate.

It's becoming a risky thing to start a thread on here these days as you run the risk of being heavily critised or ridiculed for putting observations or concerns onto the forum. I'd have thought that's exaxctly what a community forum is for - putting up your views/observations/concerns etc without fe...
